You have to wonder how this is going to go down with the Police. I mean, I know the policemen are evil bastards in every Orwellian film in the last century or so but these are real people, probably good ones. How could they condone raiding suspected charities?

This'll probably cause a bit of turmoil there as much as anywhere else.

IF this bill passes (which it won't, considering that similar attempts have been blocked for almost ten years now) they'll likely turn a blind eye whenever possible, if the hiring system for police agents is based on competence.

Because they're cops. They're job is to carry out the law, no matter what. Morality rarely figures into it, and almost never in a good way. They won't care, because it isn't their job to care, because it's the law not to care. They mostly aren't evil, I agree, they're literally amoral in their jobs. As in, without morals at all, only the letter of the law.

Now hand over the ladle or get shot for resisting, criminal scum. (Can you tell I'm somewhat bitter about these events?)

I don't know about the UK, but depending on where you are in the US, that is not always the case; enforcement can be pretty selective.
