In fact, from most reasonable AI designs, even many stupid and narrow ones, it arises by itself and trying to make them NOT curious would be the hard thing. AI with some amount of curiosity exist today. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if you, the reader, own a game where the AI are curious about some things, depending on how you define it. ))

Very good, and quite correct! As I am a fan of RTS games, it is a REQUIREMENT for the AI to be curious, otherwise, you would never be found by it, nor assaulted! But the thing is, these are self-aware, curious AIs. How many AIs can you think of that are self-aware AND curious?

((I know of at least one self aware robot that got that way BY being curious. If you count a very limited bodily self awareness.

What you might be thinking of is General, as opposed to narrow, artificial intelligence. For that, there are mathematical proofs that they will always be curious with very rare exceptions.. ))
