Your spymaster takes the nineteen pounds of silver you give him and sets to work in the port of Gasket, bribing and blackmailing informants to try and attain the location of the pirate headquarters. So far he has failed to locate the headquarters, but he has a pair of names; apparently the pirates are led by some sort of legendary captain, the Dread Pirate Roberts. He is almost never seen, but his lieutenant Westley has been observed often drinking in the port of Mitre in South Alestrom.

The port of Mitre, for its part, soon enough comes under attack by your hordes of axemen and the two bands of war bears under Bearskin's command. Despite the overwhelming force, the defenders hold their own for some time until the city gates finally collapse and a mixture of raging soldiers and wild bears flood into the city. Receiving information from your spymaster, Bearskin engages in a full-blooded search of the city but is unable to find Westley.

In addition to the walls you have come to expect from cities in this part of the world, the city of Sutcliffe in East Sutter has several archer towers built into the defensive structure, plus a second set of walls for defenders to withdraw to. These are excellent preparations and surely would have come in handy had your troops not captured the garrison commander before the battle and tortured the passwords out of him. By the time the defenders realised what had happened your men already controlled both gates and were in a position to destroy the enemy defences from the inside.
You decide not to patrol the Brentish channel and are rewarded for your efforts as one of your chief rivals' trade ships is sunk by the pirates. On the other hand, the pirates have seized a massive haul of treasure.
