Kashyyk, Hubris, would you agree to a trade pact?

Trade Pacts will always give 10% of full income (as an additive bonus; trade stimulates economies and the exchange of people and ideas).  Full income is basic revenue plus any industrial bonuses (but not windfalls, such as caravan bonuses), before trade bonuses are added.  For a more precise amount of how much you are getting, check the turn posts.

Building up the land you have is almost certainly worthwhile if you are running out of space to expand and don't feel ready to attack your neighbours, or if you feel you need a better-defended position.

Also, Look at it this way. I have 2 provinces. Just two. And for a bit there I was leading the pack, economically.
Improve your territory as often as you can safely do so.

Indeed, and it's only due to rapid expansion that Arcadia and The Grand Duchy of Grouting have managed to overtake you. Which also means our forces are more spread out.

Yep. I was actually -planning- to expand this turn, but Nooooooooo this damn temple..
Though you guys have much greater income potential currently.

Stealth Edit: No. I'm not bitter. Much.

Reclassified Phalanx as a Heavy Infantry unit with the following stats:

Phalanx:  £1000.  Attack 18, Defense 23.  Upkeep: £85.  Requires iron or copper.  Tech:  Infantry Training I or Armoury I.
A regiment of infantry equipped with broad metal shields and spears, trained to take up defensive formations at a moment's notice.

I think yer looking at infrastructure type research, which lets ya pull up your investment amount..
Also.. Look at the armies on the field.. -I- am fielding the most expensive/(strong? Well one could make that argument, proly not for long though) one currently..Everyone else seems to be pretty much Zerg rushing with spearman.. Don't worry too much bout expensive troops till yer fielding em.

I'm also going for the elite corps idea, I've only recruited one unit so far this game. longbowmen.
