Leader: Grand Duke Mortrati
Your scholars, given the rumours of a return of magic to the world, spend a lot of time consulting ancient books on the subject to try and learn any new techniques. Unfortunately, all of them are useless.

Both armies have fought to bitter exhaustion.
The last stroke was won by the attackers. They slay any wounded defenders.
Your armies clash at the Northern Grout stronghold of Viddering, a hilltop city where archers rained wooden death down upon your forces as they clambered up the hill. The battle raged from dawn to dusk as your men took position after position, numbers on both sides whittled down nearly to nothing by attrition. By sunset both sides were utterly exhausted and an armistice was declared wherein the defenders surrendered to those few attackers still standing. You are victorious, and the wealth-strewn lands of West Grouting are now your own, but it will take months for your armies to recover.
The coalfields of West Grouting in particular promise great profit, especially as they remain largely untapped.
Not all news is good news. The undefended region of East Grouting was subject to attack by a horde of creatures, half man and half white bear, that streamed out of Central Terrendale in search of food. The beasts ate grain and meat, stole cattle, drank beer and rumour suggests may have even eaten some people. Regardless of the truth of the last rumours, the devastation to the region has been terrible and has cost you nearly all the taxes from the region this season to manage. (Total loss from raiding: £100.)
