Oh boy. Looks like Guns may be introduced sooner then expected.

...Wait. I have an idea.
Iituem, can we burn a outdated tech (I.E. Infrastructure I) and keep the future verisons?

I doubt it. How could you do Differentiation/Integration if you don't know how to add, subtract, multiply and divide?

I wonder what practical purpose 'burning' a tech would serve. By all rights if you have a research at rank 2, then that means the secrets of the rank 1 are within the current rank as well. Increased rank is merely progression, elaboration and specification of an idea. Diplo 5 isn't fundamentally different from Diplo 1.

Interesting question, and I personally like the idea of regressed races that have the know-how to produce advanced tech but not to understand why it works.  In other words, it is possible to be able to produce muskets without having any understanding of metallurgy or chemistry, provided the instructions on how to build it are written down and kept intact and never altered.  It will not be possible to improve it without the aforesaid understanding, however, for all one knows how to do is follow a recipe whilst never comprehending the principles that underlie it.

Quote from: Rule Clarification
You may burn precursor techs and continue to use an advanced tech, but you may not research any further techs that are dependent on that advanced tech without re-researching every precursor tech it is dependent on.

"Technological advancement is an inherently iterative process.  One does not simply take sand from a beach and use it to fashion a dataprobe.  We use crude tools to fashion better tools, and then our better tools to fashion more precise tools, and so on.  Each minor refinement is a step in the process, and each step must be taken."

Bonus points (which are worth nothing except my praise) if you can tell me where this is from without looking it up on the internet.

Resources exist to be consumed. And consumed they will be. If not by this generation then by the next.

Ok, first he says Gnomes are awsome hunters after I clearly stated the Ariani were born hunters.

Now he is saying he will use pneumatic guns after Phantom said he would get those in time.

Whats next? Will he suddenly want to become a naval power?

Of course you are. Of course you are.

And remember the Native americans and Aztecs? The Spanish and English had guns. The Aztecs and Native Americans didn't. Guess who won in the end?

Does that make it right to whipe out entire civilizations ?

*Faceplam*

The point of the example is that the Aztecs and Native Americans got MASSACRED because they did not have the European gun. The only ones that survived were the ones that either got guns or surrendered.
