Rogue Trader is much worse than the pathfinder games.

To ellaborate: they crafted their ownnsystem from scratch and... turns out that the problem was more with their homebrewed mechanics than the adapted pathfinder ones. At least I find it far less satisfactory in gameplay.

Hrm, I was wondering about that. I've heard good things about it from the 40k side, but I wasn't sure how it handled as a cRPG. Having not played Pathfinder I don't have something to compare to.

IIRC wasn't the Rogue Trader system based on the actual Rogue Trader TTRPG? So the weirdness might originate from there.

Personally I really wanna get into it but it's so goddamn big (like their every other game really) that I know I'd just lose interest after 20ish hours probably as with most games of that sort.

It was based on the Rogue Trader pnp but they change a bit.  Added leveling up, changed skills, added classes.

Yeah, the old Rogue Trader RPG was pretty janky, so I can understand deviating from it in some respects, but I wasn't fully onboard with their new additions. Blasting a bunch of 40k factions is always fun and the story was interesting, so I've been meaning to go back and give it another try though.

Personally I thoroughly enjoyed Rogue Trader, though I'd agree that their Pathfinder games were better.  The main issues I had with Rogue Trader were:

1) the trademark Owlcat abundance of bugs and jank that takes them a year+ to fix (if they ever do)
2) having so many traits & perks meant lots of balance issues, with some obviously OP choices and some obviously garbage choices (not entirely unlike Pathfinder tbh)
3) related to that, where some early fights were really punishing, as the game went on your team's power scaled faster than the enemies (I deleted the final boss in about 2 rounds on my first playthrough; Argenta go brr).

I'm maybe too forgiving of the flaws (I give them quite a lot of lee-way since besides Larian nobody's really making big sprawling cRPGs of that type), but I still had a lot of fun with it, and they did a good job on the 40K theme/feel/lore (well, as far as my casual knowledge of the lore goes).

Disclaimer: I have zero experience with the actual Rogue Trader TTRPG.

If you want to make some insanely crazy builds RT can scratch your itch there.

Though on that topic. Battle Fleet Gothic 1 and 2 are on sale for quite cheap! They're both pretty good systems

Just bought Abiotic Factor for myself and a friend. It's not even very deeply discounted, but with any luck now I can guilt trip the bastard into playing it with me.  ;D

WB Games has a sale on Steam that has a decent bundle with some older games I have.

It reads at $10 for both Mortal Kombat 11 and Injustice 2.

The reason I would recommend these, is because they are basically a movie in the IP. If you like the MK movies or DC superhero movies, this would be a good bundle.

Now, this MK11 is not the most recent Mortal Kombat. It is however a solid Mortal Kombat in single player (multiplayer had enough lagswitchers and whatnot to make it drain my purpose; that was especially for the Kompetitive tournaments. Kasual was ok but might be mostly dead now). I also liked the story.

It's also a reaction face generator, here are the ones I screenshot:

There are also a few side games, such as Krypt which you run around exploring and unlock stuff with progress and whatnot. There is also a mode where you send 3 kombatants out to match up randomly with another person's 3 and the ai runs the battle. This was actually pretty cool because some characters are better than others when the AI is driving them, and you could set the ai to run a certain way. A downside is that some characters were clearly better than others for this, like that fucker Noob Saibot, and those were common picks. I ran Kung Lao agains Scorpions and Liu Kangs who were also popular. I sent Jackie to match up against most of the characters that Kung Lao was weak against. I didn't find one that could beat Noob Saibot though.

I played less of Injustice 2, but it too was a solid movie with game aspects.

The new Mortal Kombat 1 is on sale for 50% off as well. I was able to try that for a day at the end of a free weekend. It seemed like the inputs had tighted up quite a bit on at least the character I had played in 11 and I was absolutely terrible at Kung Lao in this one. Practicing one particular move in the practice mode enraged me far more than it should and I think I gave it a negative review for this petty reason, since it was way harder to input in this version. Other than that, it seemed pretty legit.

Necromunda is now $2.
I'm probably too interested in the premise to avoid buying it at that price.

If I enjoy it for more that 10 minutes, I got my money's worth.

From memory there's a fun game in there, but it's very clunky, janky, and the AI is/was outright broken (I remember it turning to face a wall and throwing a grenade in its own face, while at the other side of the map from any of my gang).  I did get 20 hours or so out of it before the AI problems became too much though, so for $2 it's probably fine.

Dead Island 2 is up for a 30% discount on Steam after being heckled for a while by a horde of shambling Gamers for being Epic exclusive on release. That's from full price though so I'm holding off. Dead Island 1 and the standalone expansion were great so I expect 2 would be at least pretty good.

I don't think Dead Island was a bad game it just wasn't the best mostly because of bugs and a few weird design choices.

But if I want to play a game about beating zombies to death with random shit I prefer Dead Rising.

Vermintide 2 is about $2 Aussie on Steam right now (wtf?!), and I grabbed the Necromancer character for about $3 (for a different play experience. Weirdly more expensive than the base game). 90% off is the right price for anything. $5 for a game with DLC is pretty good. Hell, that's like $1.60USD for basic Vermintide 2. That's pretty good.

I might even gift people copies at that price. Anyone been dying to try it out? We could belatedly start a play group.

Magika 2 is about $5 Aussie as well. Mostly just grabbed because it's cheap, and I liked Magika 1 (I think, assuming it's the cool little ARPG game with wizards and multi-element effects I'm thinking of). 70-80% off? Cheap enough, although I remember people saying it wasn't as good as part 1.
