Piracy and potential loss of money.

But yes, this is a sales thread. Lets get back to the sales.

I've decided to buy Witcher 3. But I cannot decide where to buy it from - gog or steam, as both stores have pros and cons.

GOG pro - it is CDPR's own store, so all money goes to them. Also nodrm. Con is that 1.31goty scripts are pretty much unsupported by many mods on the nexus, as most of them are made for 1.30.

Steam pro - achievements, time tracking, etc. All that bits and pieces that pat my internal completionist. 1.30 scripts (actually 1.31, but they are quite a bit different from 1.31goty scripts from gog and are compatible with 1.30) that are supported by most of the significant nexus mods. Con - CDPR gets only part of my money, steam drm.
I don't own it (yet) but a) With almost every other game on GOG, they make older versions available for at least a time. Are you sure 1.30 wasn't available?
b) Is it perhaps that you're looking at complete/goty version vs base game scripts?

Any thoughts on Battlefleet Gothic? Worth it at $20? How about the DLC, which is at $11 right now?

BFG is one of those games I'd like to play more of it it didn't have 50 million other games to compete with it. It's rather slow paced if you leave the Tactical Cogitator on all the time.

It's got the right theme and execution and everything, it just feels a little....anticlimatic?

It's a good game, I need to spend more time with it.

I probably should not have, but I now find myself in ownership of this.

Since I can't find the people for a local Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay game and can't find any reasonably-priced 40k RP books even if I could find players for that game, I guess Grim Dawn, the new Space Hulk game, and these will have to tide me over.

Also, Oxenfree was pretty good. The radio mechanic was interesting but its implementation left a bit to be desired.

I played it before all the DLC and patches, and so I don't know how it's come on since then, however I found it was an enjoyable but weird sort of game. It's not tactical enough to be a full blow tactics game (ala Wargame) but it's not quite fast paced enough to be an arcadey type game.

It's a bit like a single player MOBA + 20% more tactics.

It's fun though, and if the majority of the bugs and stuff have been fixed I'd recommend - I'd just make sure that you go in accepting it's probably going to be slightly off what you think it'll be like. I'd also have to agree with nenjin that it's slightly anti-climatic; it sorta never builds up sufficiently and you just feel like you're constantly doing puzzle type skirmishes rather than big capital ship battles. Still, quite fun.

With enough work and polish, it could have been a forgettable flash game on Kongregate.

Yeah, puzzle-type skirmishes is a good description. It's less straight out battle badassery and more "do this thing to this ship to satisfy the objective" or "escort this ship" while also trying to not get your upgraded ships destroyed. But I only played a half dozen missions into it.

That does seem to be the weak point of BFG. Anyone hoping for a Total War-style mass battle simulator is looking in the wrong place.

That said, if you enjoy puzzle-type skirmishes it's very good at what it does. There are tons of ways to customize your ships and fine-tune them towards certain roles. I haven't noticed any major bugs at all.

The current Humble Game Dev bundle has some really nice graphics software in it. The Marmoset Hexcells program is particularly amazing, especially with a graphics tablet. Worth the price of the bundle all on its own.

Some of that looks really nice - I slapped down $25 for it. The todoist and 1Password things look useless to me, though.

I'm having hard times finding bargains on 2016 winter sales, but finally picked up this hidden gem: Mad Games Tycoon for $9.

Not only that, but you get it right now instead of having to wait until February. I know, because this is how I got the game, and I may be in love. Can't wait for long war 2.

Don't forget that the DLC pack is separate and is about 20$ at this moment. (lower at key resellers)

True, but I'm finding the game quite enjoyable without DLC. Once it gets stale I can get some on sale to boost my enjoyment.
