You know what I have a weird hankering for?

Commander Keen.

Are those games freeware now? Surprised they're not on GOG.

Apparently you can buy episode 1-5 for 5$ total on steam.

I'm almost positive that that game's art is stolen from Starsector.

That would be most impressive, considering it means someone on their dev staff has a time machine. :P

But in seriousness, I love Distant Worlds, and would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone interested in this sort of game.

Its not, but they're eerily similar.  I think they're both inspired by the covers of old sci-fi novels :P

You misspelled seance.  Are possessing Draignean?  Are you actually a ghost in the shell? You have to tell us if you are, that's the rule

Yeeaaah, probably not. Distant Worlds (and largely by extension Universe) came out in 2010. Starsector's first release wasn't until a year later, and I'm pretty sure a lot of its current art assets weren't really there at the time. DW's also published by a fairly notable company, iirc, so there likely wasn't exactly much need to do something like that.

Plus checking distant worlds' art again it's definitely not that close to starsector's. Somewhat similar, but that's not exactly surprising. Most sprite-based sci-fi is, tbh.

... if you want some fun memories, AI War actually was running with Tyrian 2k sprites (which were released under an open license in '07) for some of its assets for a while, iirc. Pretty sure some of its stuff (research stations and similar models, mostly) is still only barely not a direct rip.

Ah. I guess I just jumped to that conclusion since I was watching at 240p and they do look a little similar. That and some Chinese developer actually stole Starsector's art recently (http://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=11083.0).

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Normally I watch at 144p and that lets me at least listen to music without interruption. :v 100mb/s internet is the fucking worst.

100mb/s downspeed should be plenty to watch a video at a decent resolution...

If I wanted to wait 10 minutes for it to buffer, sure.

I'm not sure what you mean, or maybe I'm misunderstanding. A decent 1080p video has a bitrate of around 3500kbps, or 3.5Mbps.

Roughly speaking, you can stream a blu-ray over the internet with a ~6megabit/s connection

You've got a 100 milibit/s connection? Are you using smoke signals or what?
