An ending that lasts less than 10 minutes is worse than hours of boring? I guess you do have to play for hours to get to that ending. Or you can just not finish 3 and be done with it. The whole series had numerous problems and really needs to be redone with more consistency. Each game is all over the place in mechanics and continuity.

first mass effect was one of the most fun rpgs I ever played, it had great style at the time. I also loved the inventory, and the large amount of different upgrades you had available, even if lots of them were different iterations of the same thing.

I seem to be in the tiny (or perhaps just the less-vocal) minority that enjoyed both ME1 and ME2. For different reasons, yes, but mostly I just love the universe and the various characters in the series.

I liked both of them and the Mako. The only issue I would level at the series is after playing "Dragon Age: Origins", "Knights of the Old Republic 1" I found that Bioware reuses the same types of characters. Bastila, Morrigan and Miranda. Carth, Alistair, Kaiden. It's not so much the characters themselves as their using of a standard party mix tropes, the mentor, the dragon and all that.

I liked both, again for different reasons.  I liked how the weapons in ME1 had unlimited ammo, and I actually liked the Mako.  Both felt like something that would be there in the future.  I really hate them adding thermal clips in ME2, because they make no sense from the in universe standpoint.  They don't prevent enemies from overloading your weapon, and reloading takes just as much time as waiting for it to cool down.  I do like how the weapons did feel better, and I do like the combat more in general, along with the greater variety of side quest.

Well there's only few ways to go when you want to create crisp characters and have to make several of them so there will always be someone who fits into an archetype listed on TVtropes.
They did the exact same thing in Jade Empire... heck they even had a HK-47 in there in the form of "Black Wind" (or whatever his name was).
