It just makes me want to replay Quest for Glory, which had an excellent sense of humor.

I think I saw that, it's a take on the "Quest for Glory" series by Sierra yes?
yup, consequently it's probably the best adventure game made in the last 10-15 years

Startopia is on sale at 2.79 US on Steam. It's 5.99 standard on GOG. I would lean GOG for unofficial patches. If you don't care about that then Steam is cheap for a fairly solid game.

Gothic games are also on sale for around 75% off. I think 2 was the last good one.

There's a Community Patch to fix bugs in Gothic 3 but it doesn't completely do away with the iffy combat, also Gothic 3 isn't that heavy on plot. Gothic 3 is a nice game to romp around in for a while, it looks nice, but unless you like going from town to town doing menial tasks for everyone to meet their big cheese it's not going to hold you for long.

If you like Gothic 1 and 2 I would recommend looking at the Risen series also made by Piranha Bytes. Risen is more Gothic than Gothic 3.

Sacred Gold edition is on sale, 75% off.

CURSE YOU, STEAM.

Why does Steam have even older games like this on sale or even in their catalog.
I was hoping for Sacred to go on sale on GoG but now the temptation is too great...

Can anyone convince me why I should get the GoG version instead of the one on Steam? Non-DRM and goodies aside, any special optimization anyone knows about in GoG version?

GOG will make sure it works on your computer or your money back. Steam will flip you the bird.

So EU4 is 66% off...

I know we have a dedicated thread for that, too, but I haven't seen much from it lately. Just wondering if the game is worth picking up, and if so, which of the many DLC should I worry about getting?

For reference, I like the idea of the openness and 4x style gameplay, but actual historical references are bound to go over my head. I never paid much attention in history class. :P

I think it's worth getting it, but I can't talk about the DLC as I don't have Conquest of Paradise (and the DLCs are still full-price anyway).

This isn't exactly Steam, though it's on Greenlight and is already available on Desura.

I'm tempted to grab Huenison. Looks insane, but I'm not sure if it's worth grabbing. Min price is $1 I think. Anyone know if it's worthwhile?

Hmm, I guess I should add that the main reasons I was turned off from getting EU4 sooner were its attempts to "force" historical accuracy. Like stupid "Lucky Nations" perks. Or weaker nations like Native Americans being totally useless and noncompetitive. I like a challenge, but I want to at least have a slim possibility of achieving anything with any nation. So I guess I'm wondering if that's been fixed at all by DLC or patches, or if there is a mod I can install.

There are mods for pretty much everything. As for the DLC (there is only one major one, Conquest of Paradise) it turns the natives of North America into something a bit more viable.

I mostly don't like EU4 because it tries to limit the player's power by stupid anti-blobbing rules instead of, you know, a decent AI.

With "don't like" I of course mean I only played it for a little over 100 hours :P

Ride to Hell: Retribution is at -160% off, at -6 Euro. Still overpriced.

Went to the page, there's no actual option to buy it, despite the search showing it at -$6.01.

Which is a shame, I could buy a real game with that 6 bucks.
