I still feel that this year's winter sale has been really freaking awful so far.

I'm kinda content.
Grabbed Brutal Legend and hard Reset for 85-90% off and earned over 1$ by selling cards.
Sadly the price of those faceplanted now... but i got lucky with my first 4 cards because they went for 30 cents each (some hitting 50 cents for a while).
Not it's 17-18 on average and i'm sure the price will keep dropping as buyers will probably get all they cards/items they wanted and everyone will desperately try to sell their cards off before they expire.

Now all i need to be happy is KAG going on sale.

That sounds like you're waiting for something particular to go on sale that hasn't yet.... which game?

What are the chances that Il-2 Sturmkovik 1946 will go down in price more, or that Xenonauts will go on sale at all?

Slim to none, and none.

IL2 is half off for a lesser known older title; that's probably as good as it gets.  US$5 ain't terrible, though... I buy it for that, if it was on my list.

Xenonauts is early access; it didn't add a blanket discount at the start of the sale, so it's not going to change now.

What do we think of Shadowrun Returns?
Personally I was very happy with my purchase via kickstarter.
Being that you can get it now for less than that, and it's got a much better assortment of Steamworks-enabled mods, I'd say go for it.

If you want to wait, there are two new realistic WW2 simulators in development. Right now IL-2: '46 requires a world of patches and mods to get working in MP, and the SP never was amazing, though good enough for learning :)

Played a little on a tablet and "meh". Lots of little pocket locations to do one or two things in. I guess that's Shadowrun but I don't think it would have hurt to break that mold.

If you haven't got Waking Mars, it's going for an absurd $2 at the Humble Bundle Store. Do yourselves a favour and check it out. It's not very well known, but it's a really cool biologically inspired game. Just find some videos and reviews - I thought it was absolutely wonderful.

I've seen videos of the campaign, and it looks good enough that I feel like giving it a try.  Can't play multiplayer anyways for any game because of a very large ping time.

Sounds like you stuck with the standard campaign then. Lots of pretty high quality User Made Content, including a SNES remake even.
I'll admit that the standard campaign is sorta iffy, and even has problems with canon if you want to be anal about it, but it's everything else that is great. (The only real exception being the lack of mulitplayer. But then, would you really want to replace good ol' P&P with a computer?)

...yeah, the built-in campaign is ok (I currently might be kind of stuck, but maybe that's what I get for choosing a dwarf punching adept, I don't know) but I definitely got the game in the hopes that it'd be a Neverwinter Nights sort of situation. What are the best user-made campaigns out there so far?

Kind of hard to narrow it down, as there's a pretty decent variety in the kinds of content available.
Your best bet is just browsing the workshop and sorting by rating, or popularity or downloads.

And yea, the punching Dwarf isn't particularly viable, but it's doable if you manage things more tactically, playing to your team members' strengths and isolating enemies in choke points.
Generally speaking, there's no real need to try and min-max your stats, and in fact, it's usually beneficial to progress in a few directions at the same time, rather than being highly focused on a single direction.
If you put your early leveling points in one direction and that direction's not very useful, it can be hard to get to a point that you're also effective in another direction.
Thankfully, the basic firearm skills are moderately easy to pick up at any point. You just need the creds to keep your weapon(s) at the highest available tier.

My personal favorite is the point blank burst on an enemy that just turned a corner, or the peek from cover burst after getting a good accuracy buff.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover was a bit of a flop and sad story, so I wouldn't recommend getting it. However, some of the guys who developed that are going for another game, and are being funded through other sources now, I think. Then there's also the guys at 777 Studios, creators of Rise of Flight, who are working on yet another IL-2 Sturmovik titled, called Battle for Stalingrad, if I'm not mistaken. It'll be a while until they are out, but the 777 studios offer is already semi-playable.

Too bad the Cliffs of Dover split the WW2 aviation community. There's still some people playing '46, and others have moved over to Cliffs. *shrug*

Do you guys expect Borderlands 2 to go cheaper? I'd like to spend less than $30 on the GOTY edition, if I can.

Gaben has granted your wish today!  :)
Man, what's up with this? I saw it was 75% off and was like, cool, I'll buy it tonight. Then it's back up the 50%? Was it was supposed to be a flash sale instead of a daily deal?
