Humble Jumbo Sale is starting.

Natural Selection, Magicka + DLC and Sanctum 2 by default, plus Serious Sam 3, Garry's Mod and Orcs Must Die 2 Complete for over average.

Is this one worth the six bucks?
don't know about the other crap but i can tell you that those operation flashpoint games are absolute garbage that you should avoid at all costs
Seconded. They're really bad. Imagine the singleplayer of the ARMA games. That's basically what it is.
I don't know about the PC version, but I had fun playing the console version of Dragon Rising.   Did have some rather bad bugs on one of the levels thou.   Haven't had the oppurtunity to play ARMA yet, so I can't compare the two.

Oh but they capture the reality of war so closely! Like, my first mission, I'm told to go to a town and kill some baddies. I get there, and there's like tall grass everywhere and I can't see anything, I try to shoot anything that moves but with my iron sights I can barely see some shadows, so I shoot at them fruitlessly. Then I decide Charlie (or Walter, whatever his name) needs to die, so I start shooting in the general direction of the village. And I'm told via radio that I managed to hit someone! So I decide to crawl towards said village at 0.001 km/h, and I get shot by a sniper when I'm 30 or 40 meters away.

I really felt like war is hell.

Then a tank rolls over my bleeding corpse.

I actually had fun, or at least !!FUN!! the first time I tried ARMA (first one, in this case) singleplayer. You had to sabotage a convoy; I tried several times to set the trap in the middle of a goddamn road (there was a slope to the both sides), and after a couple of tries I realized I can use my car to drive to a house nearby, block one of the entrances with the car, set the explosives and shoot from the windows.

So, obviously, what happened was me getting in the blast radius of one explosive I set at the other door to make sure no-one gets through. After realizing how tedious dragging my carcass out of the door and trying to kill everyone was, I started again.

This time, it went surprisingly well. The main targets was killed, I picked off enemy soldiers, and finally headed for the evac helicopter. As we take off, I breathe out in relief. Cue the pilot getting shot by a soldier I missed before, the copter crashing, and me dying.

Nah Arma is exactly what they are not. The arma games are the true successors to the original operation flashpoint, which despite its many flaws was actually a pretty neat military sandbox sim. The new operation flashpoint games on the other hand are more like console-friendly Battlefield clones that manage to be worse than Battlefield in every way. Sequels in name only, developed by a completely different company that is apparently incapable of understanding what made the original game so good... very similar to what has already happened with Gothic and Fallout, and what is very soon going to happen with Thief.

I was wondering why NS2  was 90% off and sanctum 2 was 80% off on the steam sale.

Kind of mad I bought sanctum 2 now, but on the other hand I missed the NS2 sale so I guess it evens out somewhat.

Don't worry too much about missing the sale. A few more days and we'll be entering the holidays sales already.

No, he's kind of mad because of the Bundle, he could have got both for US$1.00.

Or less, if he didn't want Steam keys.  It's a Steam-only Bundle.  I didn't check, but the minimum's probably a dollar.

Yes.

I hear CIV 5 is on sale as well as Age of Empires 2 HD. I'm going to wait until the price comes down more though.

AoEII HD (with or without the new expansion) is 75% off.  It may not go much lower.

Pretty much every Lara Croft/Tomb Raider thing ever is on sale today. Is anyone else pissed how they nickel and dime you with DLC for fucking guns? Fucking guns. In a shooting game. That you have to pay for. Something seems horrible fucked with that.

It's been the market norm for quite a while now. It looks like it's only going to get worse with the new generation. Hope you like guns and map packs.

Well, it's the norm in some games. Okay, maybe a lot of them. In fact, even Payday 2 (whose devs I usually bring up as an example of how to do DLC properly) have just announced a weapons DLC pack.

But my logic has always been: don't buy spurious DLC packs. If the game has optional weapons, ignore them unless you really want to support the devs. If the game basically requires you to buy DLC, wait a few years for the GotY edition to be 75% off before buying. Worst case, you play games a few years behind schedule. Best case, devs get the message and stop selling $50 games with $100 in extra DLC. I can hope, right?
