Would anyone be willing to grab Shadowrun Returns for me? I'll purchase something for them in return later, its just that I couldn't figure out which edition to grab and now because of reasons I cannot access Steam until tomorrow at the earliest....

Anyone play Payday 2? How is it? Worth the sale price?

EDIT:
While at it, what about Civ 5?
Payday 2 is worth it if you like co-op shooters. The content's arguably a bit short - there's only ~20 maps, half of which are stealth-based instead of shooting-based. Random elements give the maps a bit more randomization, though. The bank map, for instance - it's always the same map, but there are 2 different places where the vault door can be, 2 possible locations for the security room, a bunch of possible places for security cameras, it's random whether the bank manager holds the keycard or has it on his desk, and the escape van can be in one of several locations.

It's a lot of fun when you're running stealth missions with friends, and still very fun when playing combat levels with randoms.

Civ V with Gods and Kings is fun. No opinion on Brave New World - I just bought it, haven't had a chance to try it yet though.  :)

My group uninstalled Payday 1 a few days after Payday 2 came out.  They added a full stealth system instead of the half-baked thing in Diamond Heist.  The classes compliment each other well, respeccing isn't harshly penalized (except at low levels where money is particularly tight) and there is a lot of actual choice with the weapons.  It's a bit quirky in some ways, like the random loot "cards" after completing missions.  It's fun, though.

Edit: Also enemies actually take cover when you shoot at them, and you can mod weapons to be scarier.  They really listened to criticism from Payday 1 and combined it with their unique vision (it's clear Payday 1 wasn't quite the game they wanted to make - this is).

Also it's only like $30 new I think, which reinforces my feeling that they're doing this out of love rather than money.  They totally rewrote the engine from what I can tell.

How does Poker Night 2 compare to the original? And how did it get an M ESRB rating?

I'd greatly vouch for Payday 2. It's great value for money considering the amount of hours and the reasonable pricing.

:o Does that mean Strong Language and Use of Tobacco keeps some RPGs I played from having an M rating?

Magicka and Reus are both on sale at 75% off. Both are $2.50 USD at the moment as part of a flash sale. 3 hours 55 minutes remain until the sale ends at the moment of this post.

Just a news flash if anyone is interested.

Hey, what the... I just noticed that the prices in Euros, which I see because I'm in Europe, are not always the same as the prices in USD. You say Magicka and Reus are both for $2.50, but they are listed for me as EUR2.50, which is actually $3.38. What the hell, Steam?

I guess I should change my regional settings or something so I get the USD prices, as long as you're sure you're not just listing the Euro prices by accident, Mr. Space Cat.

EDIT: I don't see any way to change the prices/region on my account. Must be taken straight from my IP. Can anyone confirm that Reus and Magicka are both listed as $2.50? If so, there is a big problem and I might try to contact support about their international pricing...

This is pretty common with Steam, at least with some currencies (I don't know about Euros).  Talk to someone in Australia if you want to hear some real bitterness about the price differences...

That is not even remotely close to true. 1 EUR is about $1.36 at the moment. Euros are ALWAYS worth more than dollars. There have been periods where 1 EUR is $2.50.

EDIT: Request - can someone please take a screen shot of the current front page of Steam and share the link to it here? I want to make a post on Tumblr about this and see if I can get a little outrage going. I had no idea this was their standard practice and I'm sure many other people don't either. I have a pretty good-sized following on Tumblr... Maybe I can get a ball rolling by showing the price disparity in a clear form (comparing screen shots of the sale page). If anyone lives in Australia, it would be great to get a shot from there as well...

Sorry, don't want to hijack the thread, but this really makes me angry. I can easily just pirate most of these games if I want to. I pay for them because I want to support the developers. But I'm not giving my money to Steam if this is the way they're going to treat their customers.

If we're just going by raw price differences between currencies, it seems like the aforementioned Aussies have an even shorter stick than various Europeans. IIRC, a sale game ran for about 5 USD recently. If you happen to live in the wrong section of the Pacific, you got to buy it for 15-20 AUD.

For those too lazy to Google, 1 USD ~ 1.1 AUD.

That's insanity. I mean, in some places in Europe, the average salary is much higher than for most Americans, so it's not such a big deal to pay higher prices for things. To be honest, Europeans pay higher prices for most things anyway, because of shipping distances and taxes and various other nonsense. But I live in Prague, where the average monthly salary is about $1000 (so about $250 per week). The cost of living is lower too, of course, but why are the prices for Steam higher? It's not like they have to ship the games overseas or something. It costs them NOTHING to send the games wherever they want. They just charge higher prices because they want to and probably most people don't even realize it (I sure didn't).

Anyway, sorry again, I'll drop it and leave everyone to discuss the sale. I am serious about the request for a screen shot of the front page though. To avoid further thread hijackery, if someone wouldn't mind just taking the shot and even just PMing it to me, I'll make up something for Tumblr. (My page is thingsairafound.tumblr.com, in case anyone wants to watch for it and make sure I did it right.)

EDIT: I just posted a thread on the Steam forums asking what the deal is and how people feel about it. It wasn't just locked, it was completely removed from the forums as though it had never been there, within 10 minutes of posting it. Oh it's ON now, Steam.
