Like farcry 3 was raised to 70$, and then given a 80% discount for the sale.

Uh....what?
So FC3 is normally at a base price of around 50$ (I assume). During the sale they raised the base price to 70$ before applying the 80% discount.

Ask for a refuohwait.
Steam will give you as many refunds as you want as long as there is a good reason why the product isn't fit for purpose and you tastefully remind them of your country's relevant consumer protection laws (assuming you live in a country with decent consumer protection laws which sadly discludes America).

On mine at least, it claims the list price is 69$.  Pretty sure it was normally in the 30-49 dollar range.  On steam its only 30 dollars.
I saw this assumed it was just the Fuck You Australia Tax™. Ubisoft is known to take part in the price gouging ring but one would think it would be the same price on Steam. All of my price comparison sites seem to think it's $14.98 USD after the discount in the states.

I'm starting to get a shady vibe from gamers gate lately.  They seem to be raising the price of games during a sale so the discounts look bigger.

Like farcry 3 was raised to 70$, and then given a 80% discount for the sale.    I've seen them do this in a previous sale too.

Yikes, that does seem pretty dishonest. It is listed 29.99 anywhere else I've ever bought steam games. Thanks for the heads up. I've bought games from them in the past but I will definitely avoid them as a retailer in the future.

Pretty much this. Thanks from me, as well, so I can avoid the site in the future.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

On an actual Steam Sale note:

Anyone tried Van Helsing? It's $7.50 right now. It's a diablo-clone, and that's ok. What I really want to know is.....

Does it share the pattern of EVERY NEOCORE GAME EVAR, where it randomly crashes, runs like shit and generally ruins your day? King Arthur the Roleplaying Wargame, an excellent game, crashed like SOB all the time, usually when it was most infuriating for it to happen. King's Crusade, basically the same game reskinned for historical battles, crashed even worse and in the most random, unintelligible way. Was never patched or addressed.

So yeah. I like some Neocore games, but I don't want to give money to them if Van Helsing is as crashy a piece of shit as other offerings.

Erm... I purchased it back during the summer sale. Can't tell you anything about it, as I haven't actually installed it yet.

I think I may have a problem. I've played maybe two thirds of my summer sale acquisitions.

Torchlight II is on the weekend deal sale at 66% off for a price of $6.79 USD. Looking at a comparison on Kotaku between it and Diablo 3, Torchlight 2 looks awesome.

TL2 sputtered out really quickly for me, compared to D3. It's only fun playing through once, there's 5 difficulty levels, and if you want to try out other skills, too bad, reroll.

I thought TL2 was kinda boring too, but I'm not sure why.  I think I just have a hard time getting into those kinds of games.

tl;dr: Zafehouse Diaries isn't really good.
I second this review. Premise is good, execution is poor.
Would have been nice to see those reviews last night >_>
Sorry. :(

At least others who've seen it now will know what they're in for.

I didn't feel there was enough variety. They did a slightly better job with maps compared to TL1 (although underground/tunnel areas still look a little too obviously like repeating squares plugged together, just not as bad as it was in TL1); however, the problem is the lack of variety. After the first playthrough, every map just felt like the Jungle in D2. Not in terms of a cramped, generally one-directional corridor with sparse enemies, but just the sheer sameness of everything. Through three chapters. Also, there's just something about the way the classes/gear/abilities are balanced that irked me. I could probably describe it but it would take a while, and ultimate it boils down to just different opinions of game design philosophy, which I'm hardly qualified to debate.

I tried a mod called Synergies that adds a little bit more content (mostly end-game, but some appears mid-game randomly too), new classes. Sort of a TL2 version of the MedianXL mod for D2. It was enough to get through the game a second time but still the basic balancing mechanics of the classes irked me again.

(Also, I enjoyed TL2 more after I got a minor camera mod that increases the zoom out distance by about 33%. It made it a hell of a lot easier to play a caster after I could teleport around and spend more than a half second actually killing things before something big reached me and I had to teleport again. However, I still ended up shelving my mage for an engineer, as the engineer's shields offer much better survivability which translates into better damage for not having to avoid all the time.)

.

To be fair, I really haven't played D2 in years, but only MedianXL. It's a great mod so new ARPGs have a hard time living up to my expectations. I keep wanting absurd levels of power-dakka that you witness in MedianXL (you can get the same feeling in "end-game" Dungeon Siege 2), while all mainstream releases instead hearken back to the vanilla D2 experience with generally mundane powers and very "slow" content. I never played D3.
