Games that change content depending on region already exist. SOCOM 4 for example had accents change depending on region which resulted in the hilarious situation where a burley, clearly African American man, was talking with an awful "Australian" accent.

Back on subject: the DLC regardless of what characters it depicts is hardly worth any amount of money. It's nothing more than text files with avatar customisation slider positions.

Am I able to get the American/European Release where there is no censorship with the Alien Prob/Alien Drugs crap via Gifting???
Now that I've googled this,
Quote
As a result of the delay All Interactive Entertainment has offered gamers who free pre-order and pick up the game 48 hours after launch a free Presidential Pack DLC code in an attempt to make things right. The Presidential Pack contains multiple different President outfits, allowing players to dress as some of America’s most famous Presidents.
What good compensation for Australian gamers.

Well... the game is about being the American president. I don't think I'd want to roleplay as one of our prime ministers, though maybe fighting off aliens in a virtual reality would be a good setting for Holt. :P

Though, I hadn't thought of that connection. Why can't our politicians have neat hats like that?

Not sure what else you expected out of an American game. Should the game autodetect your culture somehow and alter everything to suite you? Because I'm pretty sure that would involve magic.
The game is kind of autodetecting my region. It involves Steam. It is changing to suit my culture, it's censored. To make this post seem less aggressive let me clarify: if I were given the choice between dressing the Boss as Teddy Roosevelt or a bear, I would dress as the bear.

You have that choice. You don't have to dress as Teddy. You can decide what the character, unless I am misunderstanding you somehow? You're complaining about free optional content that you don't want?

Maybe I just misunderstood your first post, and if so I apologize.

Are some people honestly asking for all the voice acting to change to have an Aussie accent, all the set pieces of the White House to change to reflect Australian parliament.....? Seriously? I too would like to clap my hands and have game content change to match my personal preferences.

I'll remember that when Kangaroo Punchers comes out, to complain that it can't magically morph itself into Bald Eagle Punching so my national ego is appropriately placated.

I think NobodyPro's point is that most Australians don't have much interest in historic American presidents, so giving them a presidential pack as "an attempt to make things right" is a very poor attempt showing lack of consideration of culture.

On the other hand its completely in keeping with the theme of the video game, which is you playing as the President of America in America. They cannot be reasonably expected to make bonus content specific to every region the game is sold in. Its free, you don't have to use it. Why complain about free optional shit? Is the issue that we should have gotten different free optional shit?

Personally I have no intent to even use the 'dress up as dead presidents' DLC and don't care about it one way or another, just trying to understand the expectation here. Did you want to dress up as dead australian prime ministers?

It perhaps wouldn't be that far removed from the game considered that Australian politicians have been sucking the dick of America for 50 years now. ;)

Seriously though it seems like a lot of this is venting due to the fact it was censored in Australia. While I'm fully against censorship and did everything I could to help get an R 18+ rating for games; I knew it wasn't going to be the end of the battle as long as RC still exists. The hate here should be against the classification board and nothing else.

The solution is to just dissolve the board, let the industry classify their own games and give heavy punishments to any company that fails to classify their game correctly, dictated by consumer complaints and investigation. Telling adults what they can and cannot consume is just silly and cannot be justified in the name of "protecting the children" now that there's R 18+ which cannot be sold to minors by law.

I'm just confused why the backassward morality of Australian government is Volition's responsibility to overcompensate for.

Because everyone else has to deal with their morality obsession until the people focused on keeping it are all dead, apparently.

I guess you can bitch about it or go into politics and change it, and bitching about it is easier.

On topic: I notice Witcher is on sale. Will I hate this game?

50/50 chance you'll like it/hate it. Depends on your tolerance for mechanics/handling that's kind of crappy. Personally, I enjoyed (most) of the story, the settings and a good portion of the incidental gameplay. Combat is the game's weakest point by far.

For cheap though, it's a good 20 to 40 hours of gameplay.

I shall seriously consider it then. Thank you

The Witcher series has some unorthodox combat that you may like or hate, but it has really good dark fantasy atmosphere and a moral compass that is more "everything is grey, you can't make the best choice, only the least terrible".
