On that note....

No one buy The King's Crusade. It's a Total War-style game from Neocore, the same guys who did King Arthur the Roleplaying Wargame. The King's Crusade is basically the warfare part of King Arthur's engine ripped into its own game.

And it's incredibly crashy, even though it came out 3 years ago. Couldn't even get into the first mission without an hour of reading on the internet how to fix crashes. Then it started crashing during missions. After 5 attempted hours of playing, I gave up.

It's really cheap, but a cheap game you can't play isn't really a game.

Just make sure to try the Magicka demo before buying. I... personally, I really should have. None of the computers I have access to can run the thing to a decent extent :-\

Even despite meeting the system reqs with a couple of 'em.
Thank you very much for this. I got the demo, and my screen went black after the standard credits fade in. Anyone know how to solve this problem?

Edit: Fixed. Just needed to delete the settings file.

Even if you don't like MOBA or ARTSs (Action RTS, since almost every multiplayer game could be called a MOBA),

I really don't think so. I think you're saying that by what the acronym MOBA means (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena), pretty much any multiplayer game can be described as such, but that's only taking the denotation of the acronym in account. By the connotation of MOBA, which is already firmly established after having adopted any game that could previously be described as an AoS game (Aeon of Strife, first 'MOBA' created using StarCraft. DotA and similar games were categorized as such until people decided to make stand-alone games of them), only games like League of Legends, Defense of the Ancients, Smite, etc. can be considered a MOBA.

I think it's just a starter pack. Sorta pay-to-win ish. You still have to pay monthly fees. Discounted if you buy multiple months in one go.

Actually, "first" isn't quite right, iirc. Th'original AoS custom map was patterned off of Dynasty Warriors (based, of course, on Romance of the Three Kingdoms) custom maps if my memory's still functioning correctly, which would probably make those the progenitor. Gods only know if they, themselves, were cribbing from something. The family tree of those things is pretty complex, ha.

Not really. Eve still runs off the classic payment model, so you actually buy the base game (ala WoW for example) and then pay a monthly fee as well. I believe the base game comes with a month, but you'll have a fee after that.

Is Hitman absolution worth 6 bucks? I keep hearing mixed things about it.

I feel compelled to publicly renounce my skepticisim about Torchlight 2. I was kind of going in expecting the worst, but they've improved or outright fixed everything I had issues with from the previous game(s). I'm having a blast, and for $5 it's a steal. If you don't hate hack 'n slash, it's well worth a buy at this price.

...If you do hate hack 'n slash, you'll still hate it, though. Just sayin'.

So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

It's worth six bucks. It has more of a focus on smaller, more detailed environments (ala A New Life from Blood Money)  and you no longer win the game by sticking a silencer on a silverballer and grabbing a guard uniform. I liked it.

Is Hitman absolution worth 6 bucks? I keep hearing mixed things about it.

I'll definitely say, I've got mixed feelings about it. It's made some pretty drastic changes from previous games. Most obviously:

* More story-driven than, say Blood Money. BM started pretty much every mission off the same way - get a briefing, buy stuff, choose your loadout, then go murder a few dudes. To avoid attaching any spoilers, Absolution has a more... organic... structure. (At least for the first few levels, no clue if that'll change later on!)

* Disguises have been changed. Disguises now only fool NPCs with different clothing - guards will recognize when something's amiss with another guard (you), but won't notice when, say, the chef is acting strangely. This has some odd effects (the guards don't recognize that the one and only chef in the mansion just went bald), but makes perfect sense from a gameplay perspective (hard-to-get disguises, like the one-of-a-kind chef disguise, are more valuable because there are few or no NPCs that can see through your disguise).

* The Intuition system has been added, letting you see guards through walls, predict patrol routes, and other advantages. It's controlled by a meter, which ranges from constantly recharging (easy mode) to recharging only when you complete objectives (most difficulties) to being outright disabled (the top difficulty).

Absolution is much easier to get into than most Hitman games, but some of the new features may turn off long-time fans. Still, I'm enjoying it so far (and I had a great time with Blood Money, for what it's worth).

Torchlight 2 is a fun game, though I did think the music, as nice as it is, didn't do that strong a job of differing itself from Diablo 2 (barring the fact that it's made by the same person).

I disagree. It feels artificial and railroad-y.

The levels aren't really that more detailed, and in a couple of missions they become absurdly linear - Strip Club parts 1 & 3 are bad offenders. Levels in general are looking less like plausible locations and more like mazes of waist-high wall-type objects. But the most annoying thing is that you have to sit through EVERY GODDAMN CONVERSATION EVERY GODDAMN TIME if you want to pass the guards, because it ia scripted to trigger once you come nearby, so it does not feel like the world is alive once you are away.

Stealth is now less hiding in plain sight and way more boring, cover-based sneaking, exacerbated by the above and by the removal of coins. You do not have sedatives, either. This makes you rely on placed items, like bottles, to do those things, and they are placed in a way that makes it obvious where are you supposed to use them, so there goes some freedom.

Story never was the selling point of Hitman, but focus on it in Absolution makes it stick out. It also throws out of the window all the previous characterization of Hitman and seems to ignore the plots of the other games outright. (Comparison: in 2 Big Bad was told about Ort-Meyer, 3 IS 1 for the most part and is an interquel of BM).

TBC...
