I'd be willing to say anybody who claims to play Dark Souls with a mouse and keyboard without issues is a liar. Or a robot. Or both.

Once I plugged in a controller, I could find no issues with it, though maybe it's cause I don't know what I'm missing.

There are some weird technical issues, though. I had to jump through hoops and some fan patches to get it working on my PC. After doing so, I didn't have further problems, but I'm not looking forward to ever having to do it all again.

For dark souls, mouse and keyboard is fine once you get the 3rd party patch.

I have to ask, I've heard bad things about the PC version of Dark Souls. Is it worth it for $7.50?
It's worth it. The only problem I had with using a keyboard and mouse occurred when running the game in windowed mode, the mouse does not stay locked into the window. I ended up playing the game using only the keyboard and that works just fine.

I also haven't even looked at the 3rd party patch yet...

At $7.50 it's an absolute must buy, as long as you either own a controller, are willing to fiddle with the fixes for the game...or you're easy going about bad ports.

Can anyone else see the flash sale?  It's not appearing on my browser right now.

I'm actually in the opposite situation - I owned pretty much everything that was cheap in the last Steam Sale, but this time around I've bought lots of awesome stuff at my favoured "$7.50 or less" level.

We're past the halfway point in the sale, so if the thing you want hasn't bubbled up to the front page somewhere already, it's probably not going to do so.  The daily, flash, and community choice games are mostly the same pool.  I've only seen a few oddballs pop up; two of them are up for vote right now.  (f2p starter packs)

Are you wishing for something particular, or just eager for good deals?

Has anybody played Rising Storm?  I remember seeing tons of stuff here about Red Orchestra and Red Orchestra 2, but I've seen next to nothing about this one.

What's true for RO2 is going to be true for Rising Storm for the most part, as it's basically a modded version of RO2. It'd put its complexity as an FPS somewhere in ARMA2's neighborhood. Not quite that extreme, it's still a running and gunning kind of game. But there's a lot of mechanics and, for a lack of a better term, options that you don't find in most FPS. The ability to dial in your sights according to range, a body damage model, bleeding and bandaging...the two games are a mix of a lot of mechanics and stylistic parts of FPS. To me it's a game that's trying to be fast-paced like modern FPS, but be detailed and "realistic" like their previous games.

I enjoyed the 80 some odd hours I spent with RO2. I just haven't gone back to it in a really long time.

Yea, not seeing many games that interest me on the front page that I don't already have...  And I have a hard time looking for games I like partly due to me not knowing for sure what I like...  Meh, can't pay for them now anyhow

Anyone know if the warframe starter pack on sale right now can be applied to preexisting warframe accounts?

Is RAGE (75% off) worth it? How close is it to Fallout 3 or Borderlands 2?

RAGE is closer to how Doom 3 was like. It's not an open world type game like Fallout 3, nor is it like Borderlands 2 with it's random loot system.

The game (from what I've played of it) is based around mission hubs, where you're sent out to complete a quest in a nearby dungeon/ruin involving shoot them all. It is an FPS first and formost, not an RPG.

The game world isn't that interesting compared to the Fallout universe, however the enemy animation as they move across the battlefield (swinging from the roof, rolling over obsticles and out of the way of your shots) are some of the best I've seen in a game.

I think the best thing is to expect Doom 3 or Quake 4, not something like Fallout 3, which I believe was to it's detriment when it was released. It's not a bad game mechanically, but it feels rather bland story-wise compared to other post-apocalyptic shooters.
