Overall opinion here is pretty high, depending on what you're looking for.

STOP TALKING ABOUT THE CARDS HERE
TALK ABOUT THE CARDS HERE.

Apologies. This is honestly the first I've heard of the cards, so I assumed they were a feature of the sale.
They ARE a feature of the sale, sort of. Really for people not interested in collecting them, they are like little discounts. You can 'sell' them for steam wallet cash and use that to buy games.

If you are looking at Crusader Kings 2 (75% flash sale), be aware that none of the options include the newest DLC. Great game, highly recommended, but it is a bit tricky that even the DLC Pack doesn't contain all the DLC...

The latest DLC JUST came out.

I know that, just wouldn't want someone to be upset if they thought the DLC pack contained all the DLC, especially since the list seems very long and exhaustive.

My brother had a lot of fun with Deus Ex 3, I'm looking forward to trying it once I stop being addicted to Crusader Kings 2.
Speaking of CK2, I'm ecstatic that the DLC-pack is part of the sale.  Still, it's an odd game.  Not sure I'd recommend it to people in general - it's definitely not a typical turn based strategy.  It's what I thought Total War was about, families and schemes.

I see that Terraria is a top seller again.  This is the second or third time it's been discounted to two-fiddy, who's buying it?  How could interested people not have it by now?  I mean, yeah, long tail theory, but how is it possible to be a top seller?  I don't get this.
Half-Life 2 shows up as a top seller when it's on sale, and Valve literally gives that game away for free.
(Regards to its prevalence in bundles, to be clear.)

Which implies they're counting the total sales, not the recent sales history.  Okay.  Less than helpful for tracking what's good right now, but it at least makes sense to me now.  Thanks.

That might be due to the complete lack of it being a turn-based game, lol. The system reminds me a lot of more Rise of Nations with it's tick-based resource gathering but RTS gameplay otherwise. Very different games though.

When people ask me what CK2 is, I just tell them it's the premier Game of Thrones simulator.

I hope they take what you say with a grain of salt. While CK2 is many things, it certainly isn't that.

It is important to try to give accurate descriptions of games and the natural reaction of people who like a game is to try to sell it to them.

In other words umiman you shouldn't try to sell him the game. No game is as good as when you try to sell it. It is one of the reasons why I am usually so negative on these boards, because there is rarely a median.

Its still the best GOT sim out there. Which is the definition of premier.

Sure... but would that be the best description that would lead to the more accurate image of the game?

In the same way that Crusader Kings 2 helps with your meditation.

I am correct, but if I told this to you what would you think?

I think the issue is that it's not meant to be a GoT sim, even if it may accomplish something like it. Because it's not meant to be that, it's actually not very good at it when one thinks of what a GoT sim would be like. It's only after playing the game, absorbing what it is, and trying to describe it that GoT comes to mind, and people who have played the game can see where you're coming from but new people will have wild ideas about what it is when it isn't actually any of those things.

Aaaaaaanyway, is the DLC for CK2 really all that important? Especially for someone who's never played this before.

Truthfully... Not really...

A lot of the DLC's changes can be quite invisible especially if you start the game with all the DLC.

In fact I would suggest play without the DLC before buying any. A lot of the nuances with them are completely unnoticeable otherwise. If you play CK2 for a few months then get the DLC, you will get the most out of it assuming you still want to play. As well the DLC will not revive the game, the core gameplay remains unchanged by the DLC. They are more like content packs then expansions.

My personal opinion, rather then my impartial opinion, is that the DLC don't dramatically affect the game as it is anyhow and as long as you have enough imagination to tell that they just switched a lot of details around... they are the exact same nations.
