Sims 3 is half off so it's only $250 for the whole thing right now, does anybody know if it's worth it?

lol

More useful: I think you're joking. I hope you're joking.

Even more useful: I think there are only a handful of expansions actually worth purchasing, so do some research. If you get it to around $100 and you REALLY like The Sims series, are alright for shelling out lots of money for all of the expansions, and you have a very good computer to run it on, then I think you might believe that it's worth it. Sims 3 is a definite improvement, all around (IMO, and also technically, graphically, etc.) to Sims 2/1, I'm just not into The Sims enough to want to buy bajillions of expansions. Simjillions of expansions?

Ninja'd. Just listen to them, they know what they're talking about.

I think they had it for -80% at one point, bringing it down to about $120. Best wait it out.

Also, keep in mind that Sims 4 has been announced and is slated for next year some time. I doubt it'll be on Steam, unless EA decides to stop being stupid.

Fake Edit: Double Ninja'd. And yeah, the expansion packs are horribly balanced and there's a lot of glitchiness that can occur.

I'll be picking up Remember Me to gawk at cyberpunk free-climbing, but based on what I've heard I really wouldn't recommend it.
Nothing free about it. It's an interactive movie. A good interactive movie, but don't expect to be able to climb even the smallest thing that the devs didn't want you to go.

Total Biscuit did a good video that should help you decide whether Remember Me is something you'd like. It's even worse than an interactive movie - It's an interactive movie where the climbing routes are predetermined and they have a freaking glowing arrow to show you where you're supposed to jump next. I wish I were exaggerating.

Apparently the story's interesting, though.

FWIW the arrows are projected in your FOV by the apparatus in your brain, so it kind of makes sense, story wise. But yes, big freaking arrows YOU SHOULD GO HERE NEXT everywhere.

Compared to how glitch the game is and how close The Sims 4 is... NO NO IT ISN'T!
This, the game is broken as all hell, the devs only care about adding things they can monetize. For instance, for some graphics cards mirrors cause a memory leak. This is easily fixable by turning off mirrors, except the mirror in the character creator can't be turned off and therefore you'd have only a few minutes to hammer out a character before the thing freezes, less if you don't have much RAM. This has been identified for 4 years or so, and there's a lot more.

As I always like to mention when talking about The Sims 3 and the problem with how EA treats it.

There are repeatable bugs that have been there from the start of the series and still have not been fixed.

I'm on a Rebootstravaganza.  I liked DMC a lot, and so far Tomb Raider is turning out pretty good.  It's also turning out pretty fucking brutal and a little disturbing.  A lot of the stuff that raised eyebrows in the trailer happens very early on and was probably just there to get people talking, but that just means it's concentrated.  Lara falls on what looks to be a piece of rebar and impales herself, pulls it out, and proceeds to see what kind of horrible filthy environments she can roll around in.

It's got the Arkham Asylum style clothing degradation but it does it to Lara herself as well.  I'm about a quarter of the way through the game and if this shit keeps up she's gonna be a skeleton by the end.  I'm not buying the whole prequel thing, it'd be strange and a little offputting to have this seriously dark experience turn Lara into the Boob Adventurer who goes to Atlantis and fights dinosaurs.

Combat's surprisingly fun, especially the melee.  There's no karate here, Lara actually fights like someone just trying to survive.  Lots of frantic ducking and smacking people in the forehead with rocks off the ground.

Biggest flaw right now is something I see with a lot of similar games, the puzzles are sort of, I dunno, gamey?  It's like, you solve the puzzles almost on autopilot, lighting white cloth on fire and using your rope arrows on objects wrapped up in white rope until the puzzle is solved.  If you don't think about it it's fine, but when you look at the big picture none of what you just did makes any kind of intuitive sense.  It's not something anyone would ever think to do.  I like my puzzles to take thought, for one, and I like them to take intuitive thought, things someone might actually do to accomplish a goal in real life.  If I were to, for some reason, find a tomb that was up where I couldn't reach it, I just wouldn't go to that tomb.  When Lara finds a tomb she can't reach, she sets a forest on fire and the trees just happen to fall in a way that allows her to climb up a crashed plane to reach the tomb.

One of these days Lara's gonna collapse a building and when the cops bring her in all she'll be able to say is "I dunno, I saw some damaged wooden beams and figured they wouldn't be there if I wasn't supposed to break them"

And to chip in: I liked Sims 3, and the bugs have been negligible for me. The expansions are mostly not worth the extra money, but I kinda liked the seasons one though. If you can wait a bit longer, when Sims 4 comes out it'll probably go on sale for even less money, or you could just get Sims 4 for more money...

Well this sucks. For anyone considering buying bloodbowl, just know that it has quite a few game ruining bugs. Right now I'm trying to find out if there is a console command I can use to stop this vampire from rocking back and forth because of a failed roll on it's main feature. From what I read, it used to be removed, got added again, is known, and hasn't been fixed for a good amount of time. I'm gonna be forced to either forfeit or close down the whole game and redo the match I was winning... Maybe multiple times depending on if they roll a 1.

I heard good things about this and it seemed fun, but it seems like the devs don't give a damn about it and it's bugs.

I've played Vampires a couple of times and have won a few competitions in the campaign but haven't gotten a particularly bad bugs. One time the ball teleported to some other character without a pass and there's certainly the occasional weirdness, but I am enjoying it a ton.

Huh. That was a little wierd. At about one minute after the rollover, the front page switched back to the standard one. Steam sale was gone. Went back to the sale after a few minutes. I'm liking this new selection.

I know Reus is good. Thinking about grabbing that.

Also, maybe NS2. Worth it for $6.24?

New daily deals: Reus, Dawn of War II Retribution, Terraria, Castle Crashers, Wargame: Airland Battle, Dishonored, Dust: An Elysian Tale, Max Payne 3, Killing Floor, and Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion.

Flash Sale: Bioshock Infinite, Organ Trail, Star Wars: KOTOR2, and Mirror's Edge.

I'm tempted by Sins, it's on a really good sale. Anyone recommending it?

I continue to be really underwhelmed by the Steam Sale. I haven't purchased a single thing so far.

Sins is quite good. I play it quite a bit with a group of friends. Just playing against the AI is also fun sometimes. But it is great with friends.

Notably, it has no campaign or anything of that sort. So if you don't like playing skirmishes over and over or you were looking for more a story based and structured campaign it's probably not worth it.
