Is Defiance worth it?
I've seen it played on console. It looked like a fairly typical shooter. Had some mixes of Mass Effect (without the cover) and Borderlands-style stuff, though there didn't seem to be as much crap loot as BL throws at you. I have no idea how the PC port of it is, and I also don't watch the show, so I can't be of more help. If you like shooter MMO's it's probably decent.
PC port is fine.
It's a pretty generic game. Get loot, sell most of it to improve the bits you care about.
There are quests to do alone or in groups. There's a storyline or something.
Mini-games to do around the world, like racing and horde mode.
Random nearby event beacons for things like saving engineers from mutants and destroying a bug colony.
AFAIK all enemies scale to the total level of players involved, so doing something alone is just as hard as doing it in an uncoordinated group.
And then there are the arkfalls, which alternates shooting at a rock and shooting at bugs.
I played it on the free weekend for, like, 6 hours straight. Felt like I did half of what was worth doing in the game. If you like a 3rd person quest- and event-driven MMO shooter and like Defiance, go for it. If you only like one or the other, maybe.
EDIT: The small inventory, slow levelup, and P2W undertones are a bit ominous for a game you've already payed for.

Woah-ho-ho! So many cheap things! Being one of the 7 people on the planet who hasn't played Just Cause, I don't think I can refuse for £2.
But then Bully for £2.50....

And if Towns goes on sale...

This could be a long day.

Mass Effect throws a whole heck of a lot more crap loot at you than Borderlands.

Or were you not talking about Mass Effect 1 when you said Mass Effect?

From what I could tell, it was the limited weapons selection (at a time) and modability of Mass Effect with the variety of base guns and more specialized abilities of Borderlands. I guess... the game took decent systems from other shooters and made a shooter. Didn't look awful, but didn't look like it would hold my interest, either. I did have ME3 in mind, but the parts I referred to were somewhat present in 1, even with its abysmal inventory and loot system.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

Apparently Bully was a shitty port, and that's what turned me off from buying it. Got myself Just Cause 2, making you now one of 6 people on the planet who doesn't have it, and Sleeping Dogs because it looked cool.

Sleeping dogs is just Grand Theft auto based around a Jet Li movie. Worth playing and has a fun hand-to-hand fight system but not mind blowing.

Thought as much. I liked the atmosphere, or what I saw of it.

I enjoyed it because.. hmm... I think the characters in it are more believable and sympathetic then in GTAIV, also the setting of Hong Kong is something which is very different and much appreciated by me over another game set in New York or similar.
It has less of a focus on guns then GTA, not to say there isn't any, but as one review I read said (or similar) "you feel their impact on the story a lot more when they're used".

There's also a number of nice, small touches to the game world that help make it seem quite lively.

Sleeping Dogs is basically just GTA: Asian Edition, as people said. It's not a bad game by any means, but I personally wouldn't give it a great recommendation when there are so many other games that are more worthy of playing (and usually at a lower price-point).

Related yet admittedly off-topic, I hugely recommend the True Crime series which Sleeping Dogs is the spiritual successor, despite the fact that it has virtually none of the mechanics that made the original series such a dynamic entry to the sandbox genre.

Thoughts on Fallout 2?
-Play it
-Get the total restoration or whatever fan mod. It will be a drag to install, but worth it.
-Don't be ashamed to cheat your way out of the first dungeon if you want to play a non-melee character

So tempted to try and grab that tropico 4 community vote deal, the collectors edition would be so nice to have.

Also It would be nice if arma 2 combined ops would go a fair bit more on sale, I would love to have to opportunity to grab that for under a tenner or something. Bit of an urge to play that.
