I'd recommend that just for The Walking Dead. It's awesome and gripping.

In other news, Crusader Kings II and past DLC is on 75% sale (for another hour) due to the release of Old Gods DLC.

I also recommend it if you don't have Back to the Future and/or Sam & Max yet. They're fun little puzzle solvers.

And by little I mean each episode. Take all BttF episodes for example and you've got pretty much the equivalent of an old-school LucasArts adventure game.

With a stunning endorsement like that, how can I do anything but... oh. Good thing I saw who you quoted there. 

Obviously 40% is a bit weak, but honest question: would it be worth buying with a better sale? Operating on the assumption that I enjoyed the previous games, of course. Would 75% off, or maybe 75% and a base price reduction, make it worth a few bucks?

Depends on what you want out of it. I'm usually pretty generous when it comes to changing up a franchise but this might as well be a reboot... except they didn't have the balls to *actually* reboot it, so it's like 3 with odd fakey characters. If you don't care at all for any of the others or have no experience with the franchise at all, it might be okay? The marketing raised so many red flags for me I was loathe to touch it. I'd honestly just replay 3 again if I was in a DMC mood.

Well it is a reboot in the sense that absolutely none of the main characters even remotely resemble their original counterparts.

Virgil is probably the furthest from his previous characterization in that... The Virgil in the original series would loathe the Virgil in the reboot.

The reason why I avoided the new DMC like the plague is sort of simple... I hate the characters. I hate the new Dante, I hate the new Virgil, I even hate the new Trish.

It is the same reason I never could get into the God of War series, Kratos is probably the worst character ever and lacks any redeeming qualities. Being stupid and amoral he is manipulated by everyone then does the most terrible things but cannot understand why no one likes him. Sure the game is fun (I hate QTE though) but knowing that I have to lug Kratos around just kills me. The game wants me to root for Kratos just for the outlandish things he does, but I am not that easy a sell.

The gameplay is enjoyable. I've not played any other DMC games, so I can't compare, but it's fun by itself.

The character they set up is bad. You can find plenty of analyses on the Internet - YouTube, I know, is full of 'em - explaining why he's a bad character. Not just a matter of opinion, a near-objectively bad job with the game.

There's a demo available on the Xbox, dunno why it's not on Steam.

I don't know how long it is, but I wouldn't buy it for $30. If you're somewhat interested, I'd say you should look into it and get it when it's 50% or more off. Some people do thoroughly like the game; if you think you're one of those people, now would be a great time to get it.

Oh, and make sure that seeing the new Dante doesn't, like, cause you distressing pain.

Its art style is pretty neat.

Just so you know, most of those keys are purchased using Russian steam, and transferred to other accounts then sold. You can get banned for buying them.

Not that I doubt you, but I'd appreciate a link if you have it explain that. Or at least a list of sites where this has been known to happen. There's a pretty healthy secondary market around Steam keys now, and this is the first I've heard of using a redistributed key getting you a Steam ban.

Considering both Amazon, GMG, etc. are all essentially Steam retrading sites, I really cannot imagine why you'd get banned for it.

I imagine Amazon et. al contractually arrange for it with Steam. So unauthorized vendors acquiring keys and you buying them theoretically could be a violation of the ToS for both parties.
