Arkham City GOTY for $7.50. Grab em while they're hot!

I would've if it didn't have 3 layers of DRM. Steam, GFWL, Securom.

I figured out some of my Just Cause 2 and Red Faction Guerrilla woes: 2nd monitor. Turn it off and Guerrilla seems to work. I didn't have a 2nd monitor last time I played Guerrilla.
Wouldn't two monitors just screw up the cross hair anyway? How does this work?

It's not wrapped across two monitors, I just have an extended desktop. The fullscreen is only on one screen.

Just chiming in to say that it took me at least an hour and a half of googling to figure out why Games For Windows Live wasn't saving my game, plus an additional 2 hours or so in lost progress from my game initially not saving.

Fixed! Apparently I had to uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2010 64x and then download an older version from the Microsoft website! Honestly I'm a little embarrassed that solution didn't occur to me right away.

It's a great game. Too bad it's locked in an impenetrable fortress of incompetent DRM.

My first order of business upon getting a game that "requires" gfwl is finding a copy of xliveless for the game in question.

Red Faction: Guerrilla, Fallout 3, and Dark Souls: PTD all save just fine despite supposedly requiring gfwl to enable saving.

You guys... you can just block GFWL from connecting to the net and create a 'local profile' to play on. Works fine.

I understand that fixes most problems once the game in question actually recognizes that you have GFWL running. If GFWL had only one problem it wouldn't have taken me ages to find the solution.

So how bout dat GTA sale I hear it's a good game if you like stealing cards and stuffs.

Whaaa? I have both of those, and two monitors, and they both work just fine for me (NVidia GTX 460, Windows 8 Pro). What problems were you having?

*I don't have RF:G Installed at the moment, and played through it in one of the betas of W8, but I had two monitors then as well, and the only problem I had was that Steam installed an obsolete pre-W8 GFWL which broke GFWL entirely (making RF:G not work at all) until I uninstalled the GFWL Steam had installed and installed (or re-installed?) the correct W8 one.

Don't you lose all online functionality that way?  Fuck playing DS offline.

San Andreas has you steal an entire casino, so that's the one you'll be wanting for card theft.

What about the fact Steam just flat out refuses to sell games with GFWL to a lot of territories.

Steam does? Or Microsoft does? Can you buy them any other way?

I get screen tearing after some time. It might be a heat issue now.

It's probably because of all the Antitrust issues Microsoft has on a regular basis.

It's also impossible to get 100% completion because of a bug.
You'd think this would've been fixed by now.

Getting to 75% is going to be a pain in the neck, and I'm 49% of the way there. I'd hate to be the sod to discover 100% cannot be done.

I found it on my own, without spoilers. The game is still fun enough that I went that far without getting bored.

What do people think of the ORIGINAL Supreme Commander?  It's 75% off landing it at £2.49 for just the vanilla, or £3.74 for the Gold Edition (Supreme Commander + Forged Alliance).

It's probably because of all the Antitrust issues Microsoft has on a regular basis.

Tearing tends to be visible when you're not using vsync. If the game doesn't handle the framerate properly and your card is really powerful, some games could also run the card too hot if you have vsync off. I would think most games wouldn't do that, but since I use vsync all the time because tearing drives me nuts, I'm not sure how many have over-heating issues. (Also because my card has never overheated or come anywhere near doing so, and the fan never has to work at anything close to full power, because it's so well-designed)

I'd suggest forcing vsync on. If there isn't an option in the game, then set it in your video card's own control panel. E.G. Right click the desktop, hit NVidia control panel. Click Manage 3D settings, and either change it in the global settings, or make or find a profile for the game(s), and set VSync to on. I also have triple buffering on (which tends to help the framerate, particularly when you're using vsync). You can also try adaptive, or if your framerate is low, adaptive (half refresh rate), but adaptive turns off vsync if it can't get a good enough framerate, and I would suggest trying vsync and triple buffering before trying adaptive and triple buffering (because you may not need adaptive, especially for older games).
