As far as I know all the expansions are compatible in multiplayer regardless of which ones you have. It just means you can only play the races from the part of the game you own.

It was pretty bad when I played, but there have been two patches since I gave it a shot.  I suspect the core gameplay is still bad though.

The first stronghold and crusader are gems of games, the other 2 pretty much just suck.

Not bad, but Amazon usually has the better package deals with Steam keys. Not sure about right at this moment.

I would definitely say yes...I got it when it came out on disc and bought it again cause it was on sale. I enjoyed it a great deal.

Jade Empire is a pretty sweet game, particularly if you don't expect more of it than it can really offer (it's a bit, er, old).

I personally found Jade Empire pretty meh. It's the typical Bioware formula.
There isn't much depth outside of the combat, there's no armour or anything like that. It's got the same ol' binary BABY RAPIST and EARTHLY SAINT moral choice system which it claims isn't just good and evil (which it is). The controls don't feel native to the PC (and plugging in a controller will give you jerky camera controls for some reason). None of the characters really seem to interest me. As far as I could tell you could only have a single companion following you so don't expect much in the way of clever NPC exchanges. UI is a bit of a mess and things tend not to scale well with higher resolutions.

The world seems decent enough though. There hasn't been many games set around a "martial-arts-movie world" many times before. Combat was okay, it was mostly about finding the right stances to do the job. I suppose it's decent if you're looking for a casual cRPG experience.
