Unreal tournament three is on sale, and looks pretty amazing, along with having fairly low system reqs. Grimith the youtube guy has around twenty videos of him and Lethal feline playing it in a playlist.

On Endless Space 2: kinda neat to start, then I saw 'cards' in battle and raged. Kept playing a little bit just to see what would happen. Got into conflict with one dud while other one allied me, 30% thru tech tree and ramping up colonization efforts/combat stuff.... and then crash/lockup.  I did not go back to it.

Hmm, Hotline Miami is 50% off this weekend.

Very tempted, as I've read a lot of good things about it, but can't help thinking that it's early December and the inevitable Christmas sale is likely to kick off soon...

On the other hand, I doubt it will get much cheaper than that, as it's already a cheap game and with such strong reviews, there's little incentive to discount to 75%.

Oh absolutely, I don't think Hotline Miami itself is likely to be any cheaper...I'm just wondering whether the money I'm tempted to spend on it might get me a different slightly-more-awesome game for the same price in the sale!  :P

FTL is 60% off, how is it? I'm intrigued but it's been hard to get a feel for it.

If you like roguelikes, FTL is awesome. I've put a ton of time into that game, and there are still things I haven't unlocked.

It can be pretty brutal, though.

What sort of time commitment is there per game? Like is it a turn it on for 15 minutes while dinner is cooking sort of thing or a bit longer term? (I've seen rogue likes in both categories)

Usually about half hour to an hour for a game. But you can save and quit any time you're not in combat, and the game pauses well, so I often use it for the 10-15 minute break range.

The typical fight time for a single battle in FTL is just a couple minutes. A whole campaign typically lasts an hour or so.

So, I bought it. And I was doing well. Then I got to the second sector...

Then I wasn't doing so well. :)

This looks like it's going to be a lot of fun, thanks for the feedback.

best mod for you would be to turn off the incoming fleet that way you can have more of a experience until they release sandbox mode.

It was down to 75% off over the thanksgiving sale.  Its an interesting game, not the best programming, but good story(if you can call it that), and great aesthetic.

Last playthrough I got to (and then slaughtered by) the rebel flagship. There's some definite fun to the RNG though, sometimes things just go sideways right from the beginning.
