For me it got a lot less Grindy after they added the bounty hunter missions.  Any time I ran out of money I did a few of those to fill up again.  :)

The Bounty Hunter missions are always a good challenge with great rewards and they pretty much take out any major grindiness. Other than that, progression is a lot of fun and it's always cool to unlock and experiment with new things. The combat is fun and always intense unless you're at a silly degree of overeleveled. The sense of humour is pretty entertaining when you're in the mood for it (even if the portraits and writing itself are... lacking, at times).

Oh, and Bounty Hunter ships?

Badass. So badass. And straight-up terrors to face so you can unlock them.

Garry's Mod is 75% off right now. You may get thousands of hours out of it or get bored after ten minutes. I'm not sure if you need Counter-Strike: Source for most multiplayer anymore.

I got hundreds of hours out of GMod, without CS:S. Ironically, I haven't played GMod since buying CS:S (I haven't played CS:S either).

I've been pondering getting Garry's mod for a long time, but never really got a good idea for what it's all about. It seems very disjointed - kind of like a GAME WHERE YOU DO LOTS OF THINGS. Which sounds great to play with friends, but perhaps not on random public servers. Any ideas?

Gary's Mod is for TTT as far as I am concerned. TTT is trouble in terrorist town. Google that.

ive had alot of fun just building random contraptions and binding them all to fly about on a few keys, then spawning a pile of enemies and randomly holding down the go buttons till everything is dead. Never really got into the multiplayer stuff, apart from just dickabout building.  Shipping container races and gman flying machine contests and the like.

Physics sandbox. Trouble in Terrorist Town. That is all you need. If gameplay videos aren't appealing to you, it's probably not worth your money.
Random public servers for TTT are usually fine.

I thought it was for setting up huge battles and lording over them like a spiteful, particularly malevolent Armok.

(and for briefly trying to figure out the very robust construction system then giving up)

(Also Elevator: Source, which I haven't played but the LP was awesome)

Turns out TTT needs CS:Source which I don't have :(

Oh well, for $2.49 I guess I'll try it anyways. CS:Source is still $20, so perhaps when it goes on sale.
