We've been talking about it for the last 10 posts or so.
Didn't get mentioned on this page yet (with default posts per page setting), and I know there are people who just skim the last page of this thread. :)

I'm still undecided on Dead Island. Is it worth a meager £8? From what I've seen it looks pretty neat, if a little buggy in places.

I suppose it's worth the money. hemmingjay thinks so and that's a pretty solid recommendation. Just don't expect anything deep, detailed or exceptionally well thought out. In terms of immersion and semi-open world wandering, I think it does pretty well. I can't say any other nice things about it beyond that.

I quite enjoyed the first act of the game, I guess about a third of it, when you are at the beach front area. But after that it got pretty generic and repetitive so I stopped playing. Might have improved later but I can't tell you that.
So really it depends how many hours of fun £8 is worth to you :)

One F Jef did a steam of it a while back that's pretty fun to watch. Could give you an idea if you'd like to play the game yourself or not.

Oh, this reminds me.

http://www.becausewemay.com/

Starting this Thursday there is going to be a ton of indie games on sale at steam & other vendors.  Looking at the list of games planning a sale I see at least 4 that I'm interested in.

So keep an eye open starting Thursday.  :)

Metro 2033 is 75% off, bringing it down to $4.99.

Any opinions/reviews on it?

I liked what I saw, but you need a fairly beefy rig to run it.

It's a linear FPS, but the story is interesting and the universe captures the feel of a crapsack world perfectly.

This is an awfully awesome sale, but there's just too many options. Which are the best ones to give consideration to?

TotalBiscuit had good things to say about Frozen Synapse (which comes with a free second copy).
Dungeons of Dredmor is a great roguelike for the non-roguelike-er.

Gamersgate sells this deal with Steam activation.

Eufloria is fun for awhile. I think the steam rating is at least 10 points too low.

This, pretty much. I gave it a playthrough on console, and the setting was very well done. You could get some frantic moments as well, things like being near the end of your last filter on a trip through the surface, the eyes of your gasmask cracked as you run from a pack of abominations. Not worth $60, but for $5 it is certainly worth it.

Thinking of getting the Lugaru HD pack, which I didn't even know was on Steam until this sale popped up. I played the demo and found it really fun, plus it helps support the developers of Overgrowth (another title I'm keeping an eye on).

Its not on steam, but in case anybody is interested Defenders Quest is also on sale straight from the developer for only three dollars.  Its an RPG/Tower defence game that I had a fair bit of fun with.

Pretty soon its getting a game+ mode and some updated polish as well.
