Wait, wut? No bases? ok....obviously I need to grab a demo or something, because they changed it just a wee bit from DoW 1 then.

DOW2 isn't an RTS in any sense. You control a squad of space marines as you move through different missions, objectives, etc. It is more of a tactical combat roleplaying game, there really isn't much strategy involved. It's a fantastic game, just not an RTS. You don't build a base, train units, etc. Between missions you upgrade your marines as they level, equip new/better gear, things like that. In the chaos expansion there is a purity/taint mechanic as well which alters the abilities you gain as you level and changes the ending.

"Just a wee bit" is the biggest understatement of the year, mate.  ;)

If you've played Company of Heroes, then it's quite similar. You control a small handful of squads, making use of cover and positioning to overwhelm your opposition and seize control points; these control points grant resources. There is no base building - heck, in the single-player campaign there isn't even a base, whereas in the online Skirmish mode I think you get one base structure that can be upgraded a couple of times.

So, yeah. Entirely not a standard RTS. It's worth checking out - I've played all of the DoWII games and loved them - but it's a completely different experience.

DoW2 is not RTS. It's prettttty much RTT, like Ground Control and the like.

Huh. Haven't played any of the games people were comparing it to. I might hold off till I get a look at my friend's copy.

Anybody else played Sequence? It's crazy cheap, and it looks like an intriguing cross of JRPG and Dance Dance Revolution. xD

@Naxza: I played around some with the first Gothic, and I was underwhelmed. It had a lot of promise but was bugged pretty bad, IIRC. Still, $5 for the whole bundle is probably a good deal.

You can buy a game you already own. Just click the "Add to cart" button, as usual.

I was going to buy a 4-pack to give to people, but 1) I don't have any friends on Steam and 2) I'm not sure if anyone on these forums who wants it doesn't have it.

Start a give-a-way. If enough people show up interested, go ahead and buy it.

No. Sorry. It is impossible to buy the 4pack of a game you already own. When you buy a 4 pack, you can't buy it as a gift. And if you already own the game, you can't buy it for yourself. You can add it to the cart, but there is no way to check out.

WHAT.

Solar 2 and KOTOR look decently fun. Any recommendations for either?

KOTOR is amazing. I played it years ago, but I imagine it still holds up really well. Solar 2 is...meh. Not as interesting as it looks.

Also, why no KOTOR 2 on Steam? I never got the chance to pick that one up.

Make a mule character new account?

You'll need a different email address, probably.  If you don't have one, Google for 'temporary email address'.
