They Bleed Pixels is a pretty good platformer for anybody who's interested.
Yes, yes it is.
I don't have time for a proper review right now, but, the combat isn't jump-on-head, shoot-bullets, or stab-stab-stab (well, that's an option). My typical strategy is to kick up (long-hold attack) which launches an enemy, then jump after them and air-stab in the automatic slowmo, which also lets you guide them left or right. With some practice and luck your killing blow will launch them into spikes or saws, or other enemies.
You can also stay on the ground and slash upwards, juggling, or you can do weak kicks to knock them back off ledges and into spikes. Holding left or right while attacking makes you phase-lunge, which is a decent attack but more useful for clearing certain gaps.
Making more impressive combos (mostly by finishing enemies into environmental hazards) seems to let you save slightly more often. You can save on most platforms once you've filled your bar with the pixels of extraplanar beings. It's neat deciding whether to hold off on saving, or to do it ASAP (it also heals you). The save energy refills pretty fast on most levels so it's usually not a hard choice, just a bit of flexibility.
The music is quite great, as are the chapter concepts. Every night she tries to destroy the book, and the resulting nightmare is a reflection of her attempt. This is another game that I come back to every few months, just to replay a couple levels - mainly for the music and the screams of the shoggoths.
Last thing: They bleed red pixels, she bleeds... an undoing of their bloodstains. It's amusingly creepy.
