Looking at Zafehouse Diaries. What's the general consensus about that?

Search in the LPs around here. There's one in the LP subforum and some stories in the topic in here. They've kept adding significant features to the game since it's been out. It can get tiring on the eyes because of all the text, and the interface is slightly cumbersome, but if you get into it it can be an amazing experience. I loved it, and feel like firing it up all the time but end up not having time.

I don't think I saw anyone mention this but now Fallout: NV ultimate edition is like 4.99, whether or not it's worth it is up to you guys. But I should warn you the ending is like Fallout 3 minus the fact there is no expansion that will allow you to continue afterwards.
Nevermind just saw Scrdest's post. Anyway is Operation Raccoon City worth it? I'm considering buying it.

No, no it is not. I'd elaborate but I have to do something quick.

Could someone elaborate?  The trailer makes it look like a blend of class-based team combat amidst a dangerous npc faction, which sounds really cool in theory.  So cool that I knew they must have failed to deliver, or I would have heard friends and webcomics singing its praises.  Is it just a rushed project?

Here to report that while Zafehouse diaries looks good and has a good premise, the execution is really poor. It is sheer luck with the odds stacked incredibly against you. Practically every action you take has negative reprecussions against you. Your survivors literally cannot stand in the same room for 1 hour without hating each other and breaking each other's limbs. Who on earth even does that?! What kind of horrible upbringing was the dev inflicted to if that's his idea of how people communicate. "I don't really like that guy. I know we've only just met 2 hours ago but I'm going to break his arm!". Doesn't matter what your character is. Frail grandmother? Throws an entire freaking medicine cabinet at a person. It's like you're controlling a party of 5 bipolar freakshows in a game where everything you do has a 50% chance of killing one of them for no reason.

It says it has a lot of replayability with randomly generated characters and random events, but so far I've only seen four events and all four makes you suffer regardless of whatever action you take. These merely repeat themselves constantly and have a chance of occurring in all your games.  So basically if you get a random event, you lose. There are some minor ones where the loss isn't too big, but rest assured, every random event fucks you. My favorite is the event where you catch someone hiding his pain pills away. Either you let him / her sate his addiction (and he'll consume all your pain pills from now on) or he will break your arm. There's no other option. Classy.

As for the randomly generated characters. It really says something when one of the dev recommendations to improve the game is to mod in your own characters so it isn't so unbelievably pathetic. There are only like 7 existing characters in the game, and two of them are literally useless. As in, they are 0% skilled at every task. Librarians and musicians. At least the musician is talented at being a distraction whereas the librarian can't even do that.

So yeah. The game is really sadistic. It's also very simple. All it's difficulty doesn't come from complexity, knowledge, or skill, but merely sheer luck.

tl;dr: Zafehouse Diaries isn't really good.

Anyone tried "How to survive"?
wondering if its worth my 10$

I have it on Xbox and it's fun, but not super deep. I really like it for $10, mostly because it's "campy" and fun in it's presentation.

Gamer's Gate have their own competing Halloween sale going on. They often sell Steam keys so there's a couple of sales that are better than the ones on Steam. Decent to check out.

Your survivors literally cannot stand in the same room for 1 hour without hating each other and breaking each other's limbs. Who on earth even does that?!

You can spread rumours to improve relations between survivors once a day.  I don't know if maybe you've had extremely bad luck or I've just had very good luck but I have literally never had my survivors fight with each other in the games that I've played (which admittedly isn't very many because I didn't find the game compelling enough to go back to after playing a handful of times).

I'm not trying to argue that the game is good or anything. It's just that my experience on that front at least was vastly different.

Ask for a refuohwait.
Steam will generally let you have one refund on anything ever, then you'll have to actually have a very good reason after that (such as with WarZ, where there were many good reasons for refunds, such as it not actually being the product promised).

I'm starting to get a shady vibe from gamers gate lately.  They seem to be raising the price of games during a sale so the discounts look bigger.

Like farcry 3 was raised to 70$, and then given a 80% discount for the sale.    I've seen them do this in a previous sale too.

On mine at least, it claims the list price is 69$.  Pretty sure it was normally in the 30-49 dollar range.  On steam its only 30 dollars.
