I can recommend Don't Starve, Limbo, and Fallout 3. Especially Limbo, although it has the least re-playability.

I don't know why people prefer NV over Fallout 3. I guess most people like endless deserts more than I do :P

Fallout NV is generally less buggy and overall a better game and story. Fallout 3 has a kickass DC nuclear wasteland and a giant robot of DEMOCRACY. Take your pick.

Fallout 3 would have been an awesome DC map, if it wasn't for all those invisible walls :D

Phew... good thing I'm not big on horror, so none of these games interest me. And I'm really broke this month.

Although it's not on the big list of games Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition is on sale at 75% off. I've enjoyed both Fallout 3 and New Vegas, though if you only have the funds for one, New Vegas is probably the better to pick.

Edit: Checking the specials tab off the main page shows a lot of games heavily discounted that aren't on the big Halloween list so it looks like quite a few other deals are on.

I can't play Walking Dead until my Older Sister plays it.

Actually, New Vegas: Ultimate IS on sale, 75% off even.

Atom Zombie Smasher is incredibly fun little game - people have a hard time describing it, because it's hard to categorize it: it plays like something between a weird strategy game and a bit of tower defense, except completely devoid of towers, the things you are trying to protect is people you're evacuating, and with only two types of enemies (and for the most of the time, only one).

The closest thing is THIS game with a lot of additions and an audiovisual upgrade.

It has unique gameplay, awesome surf-y soundtrack and... well, it was made by the guy who went on to make Thirty Flights of Loving.

Pirates! is pretty cool, but a bit dated, same with Ghost Master.

Can anyone tell me if VtM: Bloodlines is worth my money?

We are doomed. It's just that whatever is going to kill us all just happens to be, from a scientific standpoint, pretty frickin' awesome.

VtM: Bloodlines is absolutely worth the money IF you install the unofficial patch (ModDB link). Without the unofficial patch, it's a buggy mess of an RPG. The patch fixes almost every major bug, and if you install the Plus edition it also restores a lot of the half-finished/cut content. And it's a damn good game once the bugs and rushed content is fixed!

(It's also frequently updated - version 8.8 of the patch was released five days ago!)

The only real problem with Bloodlines is that there's a definite best way to make and level up your character. There are a few different ways to play though, with the biggest changes being the difference between Malkavians, Nosferatu, and the rest of the vampire clans. Nosferatu are too deformed to hide among normal humans and Malkavians are blessed with glorious insight and are barking mad.
Any word on They Bleed Pixles?
It's kind of meh. The story idea's good but there's not enough variety in what you can do in combat or in how moves can be chained.

I must admit, I'm not sure what makes a number of these games "special."

Arkham City: GotY is on there. I'm sure it's great and all, but it's full-price.

Have they started putting price drops on the list? I'm not sure what Arkham City was before, but it's now US$29.99.

Can someone compare Fallout 3 New Vegas with the Mass Effect series? I sort of enjoyed Mass Effect 1, as a nice timewaster, but I get bored of running back and forth to tell people I've done what they want me to do on the other side of the map. I don't really like story as much as I like a sandboxy world, or RPG mechanics in a shooter.

New Vegas is definitely more sandboxy.  Mass Effect 2 and 3 are very much linear, through you can decide the order of things (Mission B, then A, then C, missions are still the same).

For Fallout NV, I suggest the Project Nevada mod. It, alone, makes the game infinitely better in terms of gameplay. For Fallout 3, the Wanderer's Edition mod makes its mediocre game EPIC. Radiation is actually lethal, stimpacks and bullets are rare. Every gunfight is an epic battle of life and death.

While NV is simply better as a game, Fallout 3 had the best atmosphere.

I am also of the minority opinion that Fallout 3 was better than Fallout NV.

Though I will say that the DLC (Except... the first... Wow, is that whole adventure a chore) does actually push NV ahead of Fallout 3... but without DLC it is Fallout 3 all the way.

All the Mass Effect games were much narrower in RPG scope than the Fallouts allow. If it helps: "herp derp fallout is just oblivion with guns!!".... but I never played Oblivion, so meh. Between Fallout 3 and New Vegas, the differences are:

Spoiler: Fallout 3 (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Fallout: New Vegas (click to show/hide)

FO3 seemed more generic to me, with most of the "DC with Rubble" zones just looking the same. Oh, and there were subway tunnels, if I forgot to mention those. NV does have expanses of desert I guess, but each location was more memorable and the voice acting/writing/worldbuilding was just plain better (because there were no subway vampires). Mods make both decent, but NV was a better game all around.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.
