Yeah, SPAZ is good for one playthrough, ish. There are some balancing issues with a few things but it's pretty fun.

Do NOT create the largest map possible though. While a lot of the game is randomly generated, it is done in such a way that everything is still basically the same. Large maps are just one big gindfest.

IIRC, the updated version of Sid Meier's Pirates is basically identical to the old DOS version, except you can play without constantly looking at a manual. Well, also graphics.

Probably everyone should play Monkey Island. If you're not an adventure game buff, though, don't be ashamed to use a walkthrough occasionally (or a lot). Monkey Island is obtuse even by the standards of its time.

I decided I had to play it after hearing everyone rage about it for decades, even though I'm not much of an adventure game buff. But seriously, the part where you have to put ingredients in the cauldron in order, with barely a hint? Geebus ;) I'm definitely not an adventure game person ;)

Ehhh for the most part, except for a few insane puzzles, I think it really serves as the staple of the way to do an adventure game with crazy puzzles and solutions while at the same time making them logical.

Then again I am probably just speaking from experience of much worse games...

Well, I played Sam & Max Hit the Road when I was young, and beat it no problems after a couple weeks. I think lucasarts and the like are much better than, say the Hitchiker's Guide text game. I also beat Myst, but completely gave up on Riven after a few hours... so there's definitely a limit to my patience.

I'm tempted to buy Monkey Island at some point, but don't really have the time or energy to devote to it right now.

I finally beat Sam and max hit the road after a while. It kind of peters out.

Honestly nothing ruins the enjoyment of a game then a ending that feels like a slog.

Though getting that far is certainly fun.

I always found endings of point & click adventure games kinda.. lacking.. Especially the Broken Sword games.
They could at least make a short summarization of what happened to each of the main (and maybe some minor) characters.
Felt like an empty victory after the awfully short ending cutscene.

I am thinking about getting Arma3...
Should I? Is it even worth it??? (Note that the fact I am thinking about it means its in my style of game)
Is it cheaper to get someone from America to buy it for me and I fund them? Its 59.99USD on my Australian Client...

It's $59.99 for the US as well. Bohemia Interactive doesn't do price regioning.

It doesn't help, I guess, that most characters in point and clicks tend not to have any personality... They are objects to be used by the main character.

I think it's pretty great, but I only use it to put together battles using the editor. I've heard that there are alot of performance issues for multiplayer when the amount of ai or players goes up.

Incidentally, if you have ArmA 2 you can use this website to make what would take ages in the normal map editor, plus it has a pretty extensive mod support.

But, back on topic. I STRONGLY discourage anyone from buying Hitman: Absolution if you are a fan of other Hitmans (Hitmen? Whatever.). I was actually supposed to finish a post on it I made a while ago on this thread, but I forgot and now it's buried deeeeeeeeeep.

It might be enjoyable if you like stealth games, but it's an entirely different style of stealth than previous installments', and the storyline discards pretty much all of the continuity, which is pretty odd for a supposedly more 'story-driven' installment (47 behaving absurdly out-of-character, 'justified' by the fact that the person towards whom he's acting like that was subjected to similar experiments - Mr 48s anyone? Agency returning unscathed from the brink of destruction by a major conspiracy-slash-rival-agency, agency using FUCKING STORM FUCKING TROOPERS IN FUCKING THE FUCKING OPEN... *breath in* *breath out*. Oh yeah, and BDSM nunsassins that disappear after a single mission, apparently existing for the sole purpose of the writers being able to go 'HAR HAR WE SO RODRIGUEZ GUISE, AMIRITE?'.

Having said that, though actually I could probably rant on some more, there's a couple of levels in there that feel like Blood Money level designer staged a coup and managed to squeeze a couple of good levels in there, though even those feel like you are allowed to pick which rail do you want to be stuck on.
