I have spend under $10 on the steam sale. Really not that impressed up to now. But to be honest I haven't been that impressed with games in general in about 2 years I think. The games that stand out and I really like I have in my collection already.

I'm thinking about buying Max Payne, just to have a game to play when I'm bored. Any thoughts about it?

Max Payne 3, you say?
I've heard it's pretty fun, from a console peasant. Don't know any PC gamers who've invested in it.

I have it for 360. The aiming with the gamepad is atrocious. Get it on steam if you're getting it so you have mouse aim. (I played MP1 and MP2 on PC, but MP3 wanted a huge amount of HD space. I didn't figure it would be that much of a problem to aim with a gamepad in it, since I had no trouble shooting enemies/other players in the head with the battle rifle in the various Halo games, but I was wrong)

After I bought a few games, Steam started cluttering my gift inventory up with logos of games that I don't own. Anyone know to prevent Steam from doing that or delete the entries that are already there?

Those are trading cards, n'est-ce pas?

List them on the market and they'll disappear from your inventory (and someone may buy them, which puts money into your steam wallet), but they aren't worth much.

Any way to just delete them immediately?

List them on the market at significantly below market value.

MP3 was ok. In terms of the game play, it's like every other Max Payne. What really sets it apart from previous titles is the story, which is a blatant homage to Man On Fire. Mostly, I was bored with it about halfway through, the story just drags on and on while you watch Max act like a drunkard through a haze of on screen effects, jitters and splashes of crazy color. It's one of those games I've played through that I doubt I'll ever play again.

It's not that it's bad. It's just....kind of like one of those movies you enjoyed enough not to stop watching, but didn't enjoy enough you watched it again.

That's a bummer. Maybe I just don't understand the trading cards, but it kinda sucks to have to do vendor trash chores when I purchase video games.

It will only give you the cards during the sale, and when you play games, but you'll get three or four total. You can easily sell them for realish money. Basically, you can easily get around 50 cents back, depending on how prices fall/rise.

The other option would be to simply collect them until you have a set and redeem them. It gives you steam xp to raise your steam level... and also gives you some more stuff to clutter your inventory.

This is the first I've heard of Steam XP, but I'm going to take a guess and say that it's more social gamification?

Man, I just wish I could opt-out of all this turning-Steam-into-Facebook stuff, and just have it be a store. I feel so old and crotchety :(

I appear to have a lot more than 4 :( 50 cents just doesn't seem worth the cluttered UI and Facebook-like features.

Seems like you can easily make ~ 30 cents per card, which is nice. I look at it as an additional discount on future games. Hence my copy of Reus only cost me $4 out of pocket, rather than $5, since I had sold three of these cards.

Afaik, you can only get 4 cards per game, and a badge is 8 cards (plus you can get twice the same).

If no one wants their cards, I'm enjoying the trading card game. I realize it's stupid and pointless, but it's entertaining enough for me. I can't trade until the 19th, unfortunately, but I'll gladly take the cards off your hands then.
