I continue to be really underwhelmed by the Steam Sale. I haven't purchased a single thing so far.

I know right? I've spent like $7 for a couple of bargain DLCs... Record low...

I think I've already picked up everything good on sale.

As I always like to mention when talking about The Sims 3 and the problem with how EA treats it.

There are repeatable bugs that have been there from the start of the series and still have not been fixed.
And to chip in: I liked Sims 3, and the bugs have been negligible for me. The expansions are mostly not worth the extra money, but I kinda liked the seasons one though. If you can wait a bit longer, when Sims 4 comes out it'll probably go on sale for even less money, or you could just get Sims 4 for more money...
Sims is actually quite a good game. I only have one complaint about it, the egregious costs of all the DCL and the price gouging.
My primary concern about this is the fact that they purposefully take content out of the games to add them as DCL to it later, eg. logically you would start being able to have pets and go to university, and all the other stuff you can do in sims 2. However, they take them out, just so they can sell them as 50 dollar expansion packs later on.
The result of this is a egregious money gouging price tag that's far over 500 dollars if bought at full price upon release, and even when bought on sale costs hundred of dollars for a complete experience.

Honestly, sims is one of the only games I would actually recommend pirating, not because it's a bad game or because of DRM, but because the cost scheme is so bad.

Castle Crashers.

I heard some good stuff about this game, and it's less than three bucks, so I'm interested in opinions...

Now that the Dawn of War games are on sale, which one would be better for a newcomer to the series?  The first one or the second one?

Sadly, I can't buy anything because PayPal suddenly decided to not do instant transactions with my bank account... Probably for the best.

In other news, If you like a brawler with RPG elements and a decent amount of content, dust a Elysian tail is a good game to pick up.  Very responsive controls.
Took me around 12 hours to complete doing most side quests and some back-tracking to get some hidden stuff,

How does Reus play? From what I've seen it looks like nothing more than a micro-management thing where you run around trying to upgrade and optimize. While I enjoy that sort of thing, I usually enjoy it because it leads to something else - Such as killing dudes better in an RPG. Otherwise it just feels like a boring numbers game to me. Should I skip this one?

Both are fine. Dawn of war 1 for base-building rts, dawn of war 2 for company-of-heroes-esque rts

Hmm...I'd call it more of a micro-goal game. Yes, in a way it's about upgrades and optimizations, but not in an absolute way. If you're trying to get, say, a farming village up you may need to ignore some optimizations that rely on minerals or animals that you'd normally do. Or maybe you're trying to get a particular building built that requires another well developed town be destroyed. That can undo some other advantages you'd have gotten, as well as your overall end score.

Overall, it's less about an end goal and more about achieving many little goals in order to unlock everything. Not sure if that's your thing or not, but that's how I'd characterize it.

What is up with the top sellers? I'm seeing things like "The Polynomial", "Puzzle Bots", "The Disciples II", the strategy guide for Fallout: New Vegas, "Biohazard battle", "Trainz Simulatoa Muachison 2". I barely recognize any of these games.

Edit: After refreshing, there's stuff like "Freeze Tag Fun Pack 1", "Flora's Fruit Farm", and "Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues". WTF?

Disciples is (iirc) Heroes of Might and Magic with individual and levelling characters instead of doom stacks. I didn't buy the game after playing the demo as each army seemed to consists of one incredibly strong unit that did not level ever, and a bunch of weak units (including 'you') with interesting levelling and upgrade options, who did not matter at all because of the aforementioned huge strong OP unit. Really weird imho.

I swear, Steam has been hacked, the friendly DDOS its getting is out of control, or everyone should check their credit cards. Cause the Top Sellers just changed again! Now half of them are mods! (Digital Paintball, Minerva, Sourceforts) Please tell me that I'm the only one seeing this.

I haven't been blown away by the Summer Sale so far, but it has given me a chance (tempted me) to buy a lot of games that I otherwise would have passed over. There's no way I'm going to buy Call of Juarez, Sleeping Dogs or Dishonored at $30 a piece, I just wasn't that hyped about those games to begin with. But for $10, I'll give them a try.

Although this sale I feel like there's a lot of repetition. At least in previous I seem to remember each day's deals being fairly different. This year it seems like if something is discounted, it's going to be discounted for the whole sale. Whereas in the past I felt like games would be full price one day, then drastically reduced the next.

Must just be you. I'm seeing Recettear, The Polynomial, Disciples II and on as the top sellers.

Well, their old (deprecated) forums were hacked.  The rest of the problems are probably just buggy programming.  :)
