I will post this again as a reminder cause I don't want the discussion to go any longer, STEAM SALES.
Yes i realize people have posted other websites that had games with steam keys for sale but you are asking directly for a third party key provider, legitimate companies like Amazon, GOG, Gamersgate (and others) have stated on some of their games that its a steam key and can purchase from them.

I found the greatest deal on Steam right now.

The newly released F2P game Marvel heroes has a sale going on right now. You can buy all three of their DLC for $250!

Check it out: http://store.steampowered.com/app/226320/

Seriously, no lying umiman. It's only $249.97, a whole 3 cents cheaper than you claimed!

But no, seriously, WTF? Is that a mistake on the Steam page? Is Marvel hoping to steal the record from Train Simulator as the most expensive DLC ever? Or are idiots people actually willing to spend $80+ in a single transaction for F2P content?

Maybe they are doing limited runs and you get a laminated expansion and an issue number when you buy them.

I hate to say it, but if you want to appeal to a demographic willing to buy overpriced and ultimately meaningless shit, hardcore comicbook fans are the way to go.

It still doesn't top Renaissance Heroes though, which had like $400+ of DLC on day one of steam sales.

I still... just... ugh. I consider F2P games to be an extended demo - play for free, and if I enjoy it, spend at most as much as I'd have spent on a full-price game. Unless you're releasing Half-life 3  or DF 1.0, I'm not spending $80, never mind a quarter-thousand dollars.  :o

Still, didn't realize another game launched with $400 DLC. At some point, you have to assume (hope?) people aren't going to buy everything. The alternative makes me lose faith in humanity...

To be fair, Renaissance Heroes was around for a LITTLE while before it got on Steam. And I tried it, it's actually a pretty fun game! Unfortunately $70 pay-to-win "costume bundle" DLC's precludes me from playing pretty much anything. Although I guess this is kind of off topic again.

For other F2P games I consider them to be Nag Ware

There are some games who do F2P right. Planetside 2 is one of them.

Yep it just makes some unlocks completely unrealistic to attempt and often completely necessary.

... not entirely true. Lolpodders been nerfed and the default afterburner tanks are/will be more useful, for instance. The default weapons aren't that bad. I think they learned a lot from how TF2 did stuff when they went F2P (another excellent example), and they go by a similar route.

In fact none of the buyable weapons are out-and-out better than the weapons you start with. They're all different but some of the starting weapons are very good. You also cannot buy upgrades to any weapon or vehicle so its very much not pay to win.

I tried Marvel Heroes during the last beta weekend (I think it was the last one, anyways). It seemed pretty boring, and then I got to a 'hub' and there were dozens of Thors, Iron Mans, etc standing around, and my suspension of disbelief just shattered, and I quit and uninstalled it right then and there. (In case you aren't familiar, they let you play Marvel heroes. It's... rather like a MMO version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance, where you only control one hero instead of four.)

Charging $80 per DLC? I'd wonder if maybe they just didn't want anyone to buy it yet, if I hadn't noticed the insane prices Perfect World charges for DLC and zen store things for their games (including STO and Neverwinter). Example: The Legacy Pack is $124.99. ON SALE. http://store.steampowered.com/dlc/9900/

Maybe the publisher of Marvel Heroes may just be trying to tap into that market of people who have no qualms about wasting ludicrous amounts of money in order to have ALL THE THINGS to have the COMPLETE EXPERIENCE or whatever... It's awful, but it wouldn't surprise me anymore.
