Just Cause 2 is on sale for $3.74. It's a ton of sandboxy fun, and at that price there's no excuse. Enjoy.  :D

Apart from the fact that sometimes it lags like a bitch ALL THE TIME.
It does on my computer, no idea if it's hardware or drivers or what; but it runs at <1 fps.

Might be a driver issue. Overheating. Vsync off. Lot's of possible problems.

Just Cause 2 runs just fine here: Windows 8 Pro 64-bit, Intel i5-750 CPU, 4 GB RAM, EVGA GTX 460 1 GB graphics card, running in 1920x1080, and it's installed on a regular SATA hard drive (not one o' them fancy super-fast things).

I don't think it's a very good game, mind you.

You could probably just download the demo and install an infinite time patch. But $3.74...

Funnily enough, I started getting directx errors that made Just Cause 2 unplayable, but thankfully I found a fix. If anyone still needs a reason to spend less than $4 to buy it, allow me to present some:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

My best keybind locations, rather than being assigned to things like "crouch" and "walk", are "grappling hook", "parachute", and "stunt jump".

The dialogue? It's terribly, terribly campy. I missed most of the best moments but I still have this, from the completion of a faction mission for some money-obsessed woman who leads the "communist" antigovernment faction.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh yeah, and graphics cranked up to 11.

In case anyone can't tell, I love this game. It's pretty much the perfect expression of what a sandbox game should be: nigh-endless mindless fun with an absurdly amusing toolset. ^.^

Do you get any error messages? I combed through a lot of material fixing my problem and might have a fix for you bookmarked.

I stopped getting errors awhile ago. It just silently crashes and turns everything into <20fps. I've seen fixes for some games that say vsync on and others for other games with vsync off. It's really hit and miss with no consistent fix. Trying to play GTA4 for half an hour before it either suffers technicolor kaleidoscopic screen tearing or 12fps gets annoying real fast. Just Cause 2 now plays longer, but will still end up at least black screening with sound eventually. Once I dual boot win 7 32bit I'll be using older drivers. I hate rebooting for one game I'm only itching to play for an hour. This is all with a gtx650ti. It's not a bad card. This is a driver issue and nvidia isn't doing much about it. They're still the best supported card for game releases year after year.
