Is Hitman: Absolution worth it? It's only $9.99.

I read the various reviews on RPS and chose not to buy it.  They didn't like it much.

Rock Paper Shotgun – Hands-On: Hitman – Absolution
Rock Paper Shotgun – Wot I Think: Hitman – Absolution
Rock Paper Shotgun – Hitman: Conversation

You base your purchases upon the games certain websites do and do not like?

In part, yes.  Why would I not?  What else are reviews for?
that review made sense since release, for 10 bucks im not going to argue much and you would get your monies worth in the end.

This over Hitman Absolution any day.

I have both, and to be honest, Hitman Absolution was a real let-down. Gone are many of the multiple ways to finish a contract, instead it feels a lot more linear (there ARE still options, but nothing much) and a lot more action oriented.

I remember the good old days of Hitman, where you could finish a level without killing anyone but your target. The skill and enjoyment came from trying to do it as a professional would, this incarnation however got rid of most of that meaning most levels you will have to have a bit of a pew pew (I presume it's to entice the COD lot to it).

Just Cause 2, however, is MEANT to be pew pew with a nice open world to explore, plenty of secrets to find and a lot more fun overall.

I have both Just Cause 2 and Saints Row the Third, and while both are fun, I think Saints Row the Third is much more fun, especially since there is much more diversity in enemies in Saints Row the Third than in JC2.

If you have OCD tendencies, do not get Just Cause 2.

There are three sets of items you are supposed to collect 100 of.

there is 100 of one, 101 of another, and 99 of the third.

Wut?

Really?

And this hasn't been fixed by a patch?

Suddenly, I am glad I'm still using XP.

It's also impossible to get 100% completion because of a bug.

You'd think this would've been fixed by now.

For just $19.99 you can buy the "Change one single item from one category to another" DLC.

There's a mod that fixes it, I believe, but I haven't tried any.

There's a mod that adds goddamn multiplayer. I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a mod that fixes item distribution.

Still, striving for 100% in JC2 is a clear mark of incurable insanity, even if you do mod the game to make perfection possible. If you can get 100% of the achievements (including 75% completion), I'd say you've beaten everything the game has to offer. With the possible exception of traipsing back and forth across a massive island looking for one stupid collectable crate, or raging because you spent 2 months trying to move forward from 99.6% completion.  ;)

According to the Just Cause wiki the highest you can get appears to vary between 99.64% and 99.98%, with nobody having ever successfully reached 100% in an unmodded game.

While I quickly lost interest in Just Cause 2, I much preferred Saints Row 3.  Great coop, more interesting shooting, lots of fun dialogue and characters and sillyness.

Oddly I loved Just Cause 1, and my friends all love Just Cause 2.  Maybe the new grapple-hijinks just didn't resonate with me... Bionic Commando felt cooler.

Thing is, wasn't Saints Row 3 a mediocre port with a bundle of performance issues on PC? Or did I hear wrong? It's the reason I haven't touched it.

Bought it a few months ago. The only real issues i've noticed is that sometimes the connection between co-op players can get a little flakey, and the mission saving isn't always the best. Otherwise, it ran pretty well for me and didn't have any real input/gameplay issues. There's plenty of graphics options and control remapping. Which are usually the first things I look for in "crappy ports."

At release I'm sure it wasn't all that solid, but it seems so now.
