Tropico 4 is Tropico 3, with extras.

So get 4. I can't remember exactly what T4 is missing over T3...maybe (crappy) random map generation? Otherwise I can't really think of anything T3 has that T4 doesn't.

Tropico 4, on the other hand, doesn't vastly revolutionize the game. It's largely a re-skinning, with a few more building additions. So if that $6 is reeeaaaalllly important to you, get Tropico 3. Otherwise there's little reason not to get 4.

T4 has a huge collection of new buildings, new disasters, a bunch of new mechanics (faction catastrophes, resource importing, minor foreign powers), etc. I'd strongly suggest it over T3, unless you're hurting for money.

Also: it's not 4x the price, it's 2.4x the price.

T4 is better in almost every way. A lot of the changes aren't even obvious ones. Things like performance fixes, economy changes, etc. etc. to make it a completely better experience overall.

Theres the Tropico Trilogy you know, guys. Tropico Reloaded, Tropico 2 Pirates Cove, and Tropico 3 w/Absolute Power for $5. Much more tropico for your small amount of moneys, unless you don't want the older games.

I was counting the DLCs in that, making it $15, but looking more closely at them they seem to be mostly garbage. I was expecting more out of them since they're normally $5.

Is the Modern Times DLC worth getting? It's currently $4.

Just picked up Gods and Kings and Bastion w/ soundtrack for $14. Feeling pretty good.

Agonizing over Dishonored at 50%.

Dishonored is about 10 hours of great entertainment which at the 50% off price is roughly $3/hr USD. If you think it's not a good deal at that price I can understand that, but I felt good about spending $5/hr on it.
