holy shit Quakecon Bundle.... no money T_T
I've already played 90% of that. But if you can afford this and haven't played that many, I can recommend this pack for being the classic that it is.

Whenever I tried playing any Quake game I always lost interest rapidly. There was no explanation, no plot, nothing but green and brown and boring.

Plot? You had to read the book for plot. That's all the plot you got.

(Actually, I think there were some pseudo briefings in the loading screens of Quake 2.)

So the indie gala bundle that is out right now:

http://www.indiegala.com/

This appears to be a bunch of shoddy almost good games that fall behind better or newer stuff.

Yes?

Maybe. Happy hour just started though, so if you get in on a decent group buy you can grab the bundle for a buck and a half or so and find out for yourself.

King's Bounty is actually pretty good.

I have no idea what this happy hour you speak of is or how it works.  I think I only got the first indie gala and if I recall right it was sorta trashy (EDIT: except for inmomentum which is actually kinda cool.  I haven't gotten one of their bundles since cause they always looked bad).  Tell me how this stuff works, kings bounty may cause me to get it.

(It doesn't help that usually 10-50% of the games in their bundles turn up on VOID and I can play them for free.)

Yeah, tons of those games have sequels...

King's Bounty is surprisingly nice. I got into a place that was so hard, without a way to go back that I stopped playing. So I suppose it's good for a challenge! I also enjoyed UFO: Afterlight.

Yes but these have steam keys, essentially making them a form of sale, for steam, a steam sale.

(Also because there is massive precedent to discuss other big sales in this thread instead of spamming the entire forum.  Look a few pages back and you'll see evidence of Amazon sales, GOG, Gamersgate, and bundles galore.)

And back tot he discussion, i think I will pass on it.  Given I've got other, likely better stuff to play and I'm waiting for a sale to break out on either Dark Souls or Skull Girls soon after they release.  (Seriously I think Dark Souls will need a booster sale given the console version sells for like 20$.  I bet they give a sale on Dark Souls around Halloween.)

Also UFO is free on Void, as is Star Wolves.  (And I recently got the Xcom pack off amazon and I've played UFO before, and XCOM is vastly better.)

Space Rangers is good, but in this case the most recent Space Rangers 2 is better.

I can almost swear I spotted Space Rangers 1 free somewhere at some point.

Sadly I had Escape Velocity Override as a kid and thusly it has ruined the entire genre for me by being so awesome.

It's in the Quakecon bundle for the same reason as any of the other Bethesda games.

Re: Indiegala

Not that I'm complaining about cheap games, but how does 1C Company count as "indie" when they're a full fledged publisher, with titles from a number of different developers?

Well to be honest Indie Gala is the most utterly ghetto bundle group their is.  It's some Italian outfit anyway I think.
