Not good.  Try a different server?

That's pretty bad, but it is the ping to the server you are playing on that is important. If you look for locan servers there should be one with at least less than 100ms.

The speed test acts like I live in Kansas or something. That's an entire state away.

Use a different server?

800 is really really bad.
That means it takes 4/5 of a second for their data to reach your computer, and again to go back.
It will be very hard to play most anything at that kind of ping.

What kind of internet do you have? If it's satellite, any kind of competitive multiplayer FPS game is right out.

Ping is round-trip time.

It means you're pinging a server that's really, really close to you, internet-wise, assuming it's accurate.  Probably on the same ISP.  If it's correct, that's fantastic.

Typical pings range from 25ms up to about 250-300ms.   More than 300ms gets laggy, depending on the game, although I've heard of people playing with close to 400 ms.  Mine usually sits between 50 and 100 ms.

Ping is round-trip time.
There's actually no set definition regarding that.
I suppose pingtest.net does use RTT in this instance, but...

When you ping something, you send out a ping and wait for a pong. So you are in fact, measuring how long it takes for your ping to get somewhere and then also the time it takes for the pong to return.

Like I just said, that varies by the protocol you're using.
Some of them do, in fact, compare timestamps of send/receive/receive for 2x OWTT measures.
The Windows standard ping utility measures RTT (as I'm sure most do), as does pingtest.net (which I should have known before, but I digress), but that's not to say that OWTT doesn't exist, or isn't commonly called "ping" when it is used.
