I never played the original, I just think this new version is "inspired by", and takes the past 25 (jeez) years into account. There are more factions now, from what I've read.
The game just got an update while writing this, but be warned that it's -very- unpolished, e.g. the english translation feels Russian-like and has typing errors. UI is a bit unclear as well. Probably should've started out with the tutorial first.
Thank you. I don't mind typos or if the text is missing enough articles to fill a newspaper, and it does look as interesting as the original. Plus, it's rather cheap, so I think I'll spring for it as well.
PC Gamer article about an algorithm that searches for Steam's best hidden gems:

Might be useful if someone wants to try something new/different.
MoO2 is a hidden gem? I guess if you don't know it's on Steam. And the Tails Of games?
Don't forget...ummm, Nekopara? Really?
Actually, I can guess why some games are on the list. When it comes to established-niche or old games that have already been rereleased for modern machines elsewhere, only big fans will pick them up, and of course, they'll leave positive rather than negative reviews. Since people who didn't like the game when it originally came out (MOO2) or people who don't like the particular niche the game resides in (Nekopara) aren't likely to buy the games in the first place in order to leave negative reviews, that tends to leave a relatively low number of people with a disproportionately high number of positive reviews.
