The NWN premium modules are listed as a secondary DL option, generically named as "premium modules re-installer" in GOG's account listing for the game...  the actual file for that DL item is "nvn_KingmakerSetup.zip"

So it's present and free-along-with-the-game, just not obviously labelled until you DL.

GOG's news listing on NWN mods linked to https://neverwintervault.org/   It seems like a good place to start for extra things to add to the vanilla game.

Yeah I agree that the base module for NWN was very uninspired. The whole "get four macguffins. finish chapter. repeat" was bad, but what I consider the worst part was the hundreds of pointless chests with mini-loot everywhere. It was a distraction. I have to open every chest dammit! The expansions mostly did away with that.

Don't be put off by the graphics, Distant Worlds is probably the commercial 4X game that comes closest to Aurora: 4X in gameplay and complexity. UI is slightly better though
Fantastic game, and $20 is dirt cheap for it, cheapest it was so far was $24 I think.
