I was going to finally pick up anno 2070 on its 75% off sale, but then I noticed that it has 3rd party DRM and a three machine install limit? 

WTF is that, besides totally defeating the purpose of having it on Steam in the first place?

They're all pretty shallow and mostly identical in mechanics. That doesn't mean they're not enjoyable.

Heads up that "Dawn of Discovery" appears to be the best non-Anno 2070 game on Steam. Currently going for $6. I enjoyed Anno 2070 a lot, even if I haven't played much outside the campaign... I'm tempted to get Dawn of Discovery, honestly, but I've heard differing opinions on which games are better, so I dunno.

because for some reason things must be named differently in the states. Don't ask me why, I think its all a bit silly.

Probably most people in the US don't believe in events that happened before it was founded, so 1404 is a nondate. /sacrasm

I think it was actually renamed / re-released at some point, I remember when 1404 first came out in the states and I was pretty sure it was named 1404.  Honestly I always thought DOD was a different game until you just brought it up, so I guess they failed at not confusing Americans.

Unrelated:  Flash sale (40%, dev says it wont go lower until another possible summer sale next year) on Running With Rifles, which is a super fun top down pew-pew.  I hear good things about multiplayer, but I only play it on single player because I suck.

Good news, they just released 1.1 or something a few weeks ago.  Bad news, the 40K mod and other major mods dont look like they've been updated to new versions in quite a while.

Still, its fun on its own.

As an American I believe I have the right to make fun of my fellow countrymen at any time I wish, especially when doing so with tongue firmly lodged in cheek. Besides, we were more making fun of the amusing notion that Americans can't follow something as 'complicated' as one game preceding another even though the numbers don't match up.

Running With Rifles is awesome. I don't think the PvP gameplay is very well done, but co-op servers are an absolute blast.

You really don't need to be that good to have fun on a large co-op server, so I recommend checking one out even if you suck.

It's taken a few minutes for the displayed deals to actually change over to their new percentages but it seems to be working now. Unepic is at 80% off for example.
