Raw Files for Adventure Mode?
« on: March 15, 2011, 06:29:43 pm »

I'm not able to scrounge up any info on adventure mode. I'm not really wanting to cheat at the moment, but I would like to be able to look at the data and know where it is. I also want to be able to look at my companions' data, because I have this one companion who is just BEASTLY. Best part? He moves faster than me.

I assume eventually I'm gonna wanna tinker around with it all, but all I can find about raw files has everything to do with DF, and not Adventure. Help!

Not really an expert on the coding, but I know that the raw files are the same for both Fortress and Adventure mode. The 'beastly' friend of yours is probably just using a standard template for a human (or whatever creature he is suppose to be) and just happen to be generated with high skills/attributes (are skills/attributes randomly generated?). I think creatures with [CAN_LEARN] or whatever that tag in the code is called can also train skills, so that guy could have leveled up some if he got some practice. I don't think there is a raw file for each individual creature (is there is, we can't see it), so sorry.

There is a raw entry for every single entity, but they are within the world.dat file (I think) in the region save folder. You also have to change your init settings to make it so that save files aren't compressed.
There may or may not be other things you have to do, it's been a while since I've seen how to do it.

Eh, not so much; there's data for (almost) everything in world.dat/.sav, but the only things in there that are actually in raw-format are the forgotten beast defs (and even those take special tools to extract); everything else is in some arcane binary format.

Ah, I was under the impression that there was.
Any way, that's how we got rid of [TRAP_AVOID] on demons so we could actually have a good defense against them, back when the military was still shit.

Runesmith is a good utility to dig around data if you want to take a look, since you'd just have to find the name you want on the list.

It's also a cheating utility, though, so beware temptation and all that.

I tried to use it, but failed miserably. I couldn't get it to work at all. It might have to do with the fact that I'm really not all that great with mods.
