Burning and raping the land is recreational. Where business is concerned, though, sustainability is the name of the game.

Basically, "I think you got stuff confused." :D

Which graphics mod are you using?  Did you upgrade an older fort to the new version, or is this a new fort for the current version you are running?  Did you add mods (other than the graphics pack)?  The answer to those questions (and a screenshot) is going to let us figure out what you are seeing, and why.

I'm using Phoebus' mod and do not see what you are describing, the (yak) cows are female and the bulls are male (unit description matches symbol), so I'm inclined to think your raws are ... confused.

Zepave Dawnhogs the Butterfly of Vales the Marsh Titan ... was taken out by a single novice axedwarf and his pet war kitten. Long Live Domas Etasastesh Adilloram, slayer of the snow butterfly!
Doesn't quite have the ring of heroics to it...
Mother: "...and after the evil snow butterfly was defeated, Domas and his kitten lived happily ever after!"
Kids: "Yaaaay!"

Oh - the MALES have the sack thingie, and the females the amulet.

If that isn't completely contrary to how one would expect things to work... Seriously.  I've spent the last six versions of DF slaughtering the female stock, which probably explains why my cheese making never really got off the ground...

Mind you, the spore concept seems to explain things better.

Because DF players are heavily into pain.

These symbols have been in use for this for a couple of hundred years now. Venus' hand mirror & Mars' spear and shield.

But DF has always been good for your education; be it geology ("there be plenty of metal veins just about everywhere"), psychology ("my dwarf got depressed" - "just kill him off"), biology ("breeding is done by spores, and you have to be married to get pregnant"), waste disposal ("just dump it into the magma sea"), politics ("immigrants need to be killed off; foreign nations like elves need to be harassed").

Hrm... this probably came across differently than intended.  :P

Actually, by view of all politicians has lowered.  It's only a matter of time before Obama demands a crystal glass window in his dining room...

Well, naturally. Windows are good, all the kids are looking through them.
