wear the wooden armor... no, really
« on: March 14, 2011, 10:23:33 pm »

I wan't to make my dwarves wear the wooden armor I bought from the elves (because it's better than the leather I have), but there is no option for it under the equip screen. the mail shirt wasn't a problem, because I don't have any others, but the wooden caps and helms have to compete with the leather, which is more expensive. How do I coax them to wear the wooden caps instead of leather ones, considering I already have leather ones made?

Not possible. Elves are smaller then dwarves so their clothing will not fit. You can make wooden shields in the carpentry shop.

I think dwarves must have a hidden [ETHIC:WEAR_ELVEN_CRAP:UNTHINKABLE] in there somewhere

Damn. Also, aren't elves supposed to be the same size as dwarves now? My militia commander is wearing his new ashen mail shirt in tandem with his cave crocodile leather armor without a problem.

Alright then, you go put on wooden armor, then tell us how comfortable it is.

Really? Is the shirt an artifact? Is it actually equipped? (check his inventory when he is stationed)

At one point elf armor couldn't fit dwarves.

Try equipping it manually by going to the military screen 'e' 'W' scroll to 'specific weapon' look for wooden helmets.

Wearing wood? The only wood my dwarfs get is a biological process after they craft sexy steel and slutty adamantine gear.

Elves and dwarves (and goblins, but not kobolds) are the same size now. Just, like (dammit i hate my accent it even shows up in typing), assign a material along with the kind of armor, like wood. I don't even know if that's possible, but it is possible to assign copper, steel, iron, etc. gear.

I think there's an entity token for using wood, lemme brush through the wiki...
[WOOD_WEAPONS] allows the race to use wooden weapons
[WOOD_ARMOR] allows the race to use wooden armor
Requires a re-gen to take effect.

Ordering him to wear the wooden helm specifically worked. I can't believe I didn't see the option on the menu :(.

Size is based on volume, so the game doesn't care about height.
