Magic Miasma

Well, my refuse disposing system is based(and a good part of my fort, come to think of it) in magma. Problem is, after I magma flood and everything turn to ashes, i still got some magic miasma, but there's no body.

So, anyone experienced this? Is this a known bug?

Maybe somehow you have a dead magma-safe vermin in that pile? Killed any lava crabs recently?

No, never touched a magma safe enemy, to tell the truth. Happened in my .18 old fort too, with the same waste disposal system.

Fire snake remains? Are those magma-safe? Do they rot?

Well, my refuse disposing system is based ... on magma. Problem is, after I magma flood ...

Known bug. Some objects pushed around by fluids disappear into a hyperspace where they partially exist. It doesn't affect live creatures, but only items or bodies lying on the ground. You should still be able to locate it via the stocks menu, but you can't find it via the 'look' cursor.

Try dumping the refuse into a non-flowing magma pit or into the magma sea instead.

SCIENCE: you could try building a bridge "atom-smasher" on the location of the hidden object to see if you can erase it completely from reality.

No, I'm sure. I don't have a lot of cats anyways, don't get many dead vermin's.

Hmmm maybe I can try this atom smash, DaVinci. I know cooling magma end the magic miasma, atom smash might work. Maybe I try this when I get another magic miasma phenomenon. Maybe

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, my magma traps tend to do this and it's irritating.  You have to mass claim/dump and then watch your dwarves pluck things out of the very air.

It is really, really easy to flood this place with magma fwiw.

Doors stop fire, right?

Apply enough magma that it overlaps the miasma.

It's treated as completely normal because this is Dwarf Fortress.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with surrounding yourself with a wall of flames, only to later realize that you're surrounded by a wall of flames.
There's nothing that can't be solved by hurling fifteen roc birds at it.
