Also note that unless I'm mistaken, the mechanisms are never ruined, and you get them back once you pull the lever.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

Yep. The mechanism you attach to the lever stays there tho. So, deconstruct the lever every once in a while to reclaim those.

Ah, that part I didn't know. I thought there was just a regular drain of mechanisms from what the lever didn't give back.

Why not just pitting the goblins from above ? if you build your cages right next to your pit, there is no risk of escape.

Using cages linked to a lever to release combatants is such a hassle, I just make use of floodgates or something. Just pit them in a holding area and release them by creating a path to the main area of the arena. Saves a lot of trouble.
