Hmm odd. I fixed the youtube link, thanks for letting me know.

Also Akura - forgot to mention - in the future when the command ship gets hit - there will be some kind of visual (screen shake, distortion) and audio feedback especially in tactical mode and especially when you aren't directly controling the ship - in ship mode.

So I jumped right in (having not played this in what seems like over a year), and for the folks who generally skip tutorials, the controls are intuitive enough (plus with the helpful information on the side). It took me a bit to figure out what the charge beam button was, but otherwise everything else was easy enough.

I kind of had a glitch on the first mission where I entered the gate to go to the asteroid field, but never hit shift+g (at least I assume that's what you have to do). First time I crashed into the sun, second time from auto-save I tried to dodge the sun and hit shift+g. Got whipped into deep space. Not a huge issue for an alpha, but thought I'd report it nevertheless.

"Edit" Or maybe I went the wrong way.

Orb: you don't have to SHIFT G on gates, just enter them when they are activated. It sounds like a bug... shift g initiated gravity drive and the speed from the gate engaged it... pretty funny actually.. maybe it somewhat makes sense since technically you initiated g drive and technically you were flying at a speed to engage it due to the exit gate speed. Thanks for letting me know I'll take a look at it.

Charge gun - I've been considering swapping the charge gun for the mirv missile launcher on the ship, due to what you describe - plus its the first ship - and maybe swapping the secondary weapons on the two variants would make more sense  in terms of fiilling in their gaps - gun corvette gets missile seconary, and missile corvette gets gun secondary. Also the charge mechanism might go away all together and instead be a insta fire rail gun - and the charging gun be put on a heavier ship.

I'm glad that the info on the side is working as intended - the tutorials are very wordy for those that want them.

Gamerlord - I don't kow what PTW stands for.

Hey guys I've been working on iteration 16 - and released it (available on the main site) yesterday. It is mostly polish in prep for the Greenlight and Kickstarter campaigns - I wanted to smooth a lot of elements out and make the presentation as nice as possible as well as include control mapping and improved options screens. There's also been some bug fixes and lingering issues that I've tackled.

I've also started the Kickstarter and Greenlight campaigns - if you are interested check out the Kickstarter/Greenlight bay12 thread here: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=126644.0

I started another thread so that once those end we can continue this one as we have been over the years.

Since there's a bunch of you watching this thread (thank you) I'll post a reply here to hopefully get your attention.

Since posting here - those years ago - you guys gave me great feedback and encouragement keeping me going through the bugs and issues. So I sincerely thank you for that. You guys are part of a dream.

Hey guys! Been a while (haven't "marketed/promoted" for 60 days - ever since end of Kickstarter) - but have to since I'm fighting my way towards getting on Steam via Greenlight - so if you like what you see give me a vote - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=146068036  - I greatly appreciate that.

There is an updated demo available on the main site: http://www.VoidDestroyer.com to check out the changes.

Necro time!
I missed this thread back in 2013, or I would have PTW'd.

Apparently the greenlighting went well, for it's now on Steam. http://store.steampowered.com/app/259660/
congrats, dev!
25% off, might be only today, for release day buyers.

I read some reviews, and really the only negatives I could see were people complaining about complex and difficult controls. I believe that usually isn't as much a problem, as a plus on these forums hehe.
Saw two let's try videos, I didn't hear any cursing about the controls, or hairpulling noises there, and it looked very nice and smooth, I must say.

Anyone on these forums play it yet? I am highly tempted, but would really like to hear what some of the folks here think of it.
Also, would my laptop (i7 ivy, Geforce GT 630M - 2GB, 8GB RAM) be able to handle it smoothly?

This looks pretty interesting, actually. Very moddable too, apparently, so I'm hoping for some BSG goodness at some point!

It's kind of unclear what the main gameplay is. A scripted campaign is my best guess so far.

Imagine if Homeworld and Nexus had a baby - that baby  is VoidDestroyer. The main gameplay is a scripted campaign, but everything you build carries along with you. The storyline is shallow, but the gameplay is fun and engaging. So far there is not the usual "mysterious aliens"-plot that every space game has, which is a bonus. Overall, I recommend this to people who enjoyed Homeworld back in the day. I can't wait to see what the creator will come up with next, as hopefully he will use his experiences with this project to make even better game of the same genre.

Yeah, the reason I worry with scripted campaigns is that they tend to be linear, and I don't get enough out of the story to keep me going, sometimes even if the writing is good. I want to make my own story, you know?

Or you get stuck in some particularly hard mission and give up.

It does look awfully interesting still...

Hey - thanks for resurrecting this thread! Loads of memories here.

I was thinking of doing the rounds like I used to do and post on a bunch of forums. Been a bit busy with release, but maybe on Saturday before the sale expires?

Anyway - thanks again, Void Destroyer really needs that mention whenever other space sims or strategy games get talked about.
