Twin Rivers Landing, not exactly civilization in the strictest sense of the word, but it's the nearest thing that passes for a spaceport in these parts. Located at the fork of two rivers, it's a gathering point of sorts, where the local farmers and miners take their produce to export off world. Your group plans to do the same, assuming you last long enough to have anything to export.
The town itself is a bunch of ramshackle buildings next to the open field that serves as a landing pad. On one side of the dusty street that serves as the main and only avenue are the spaceport and docks, crowded together. On the other side sit the saloon, general store and stockyard, barely occuping the space. Off in the distance aways you see a cluster of small wooden homes and the church out beyond the noise of the port.
As you step out of the spaceport you see that the streets are deserted today, there's no travelers in town except for your small advance party, landing here with some supplies in advance of the other settlers. There's no sign of life at the stockyard or general store but out on the porch of the saloon a couple of old salts are playing a leisurely hand of cards and soaking in the morning sun.
Your first view of the town is interupted by Abbey Cabot walking out of the dockhouse and stepping up behind you.
"Hey, fellas, looks like we got a bit of a delay with the boat. Boatman says that the barge we were gonna use for our gear has hit a spot of trouble. Me'n Neil are talking with him about alternate arrangements." As she speaks you can hear, Neil your new town carpenter, still talking with the boat proprietor inside.
"He says he doesn't know where the boat went but I think this might mean we're hittin' trouble a little early. You lads wanna head across the street and ask around? Might as well make friendly with the locals and maybe they might give us a heads up?"
Having said her piece, Abbey headed back into the dockhouse.
